agg. 28/10/2015 IFLA CHARETTE FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS 16 th - 19 th April 2016, Turin, Italy Sponsored by Nava Polman-Gerson Foundation, Netherlands BRIEF The IFLA Charette of the 53 rd IFLA World Congress is an intensive workshop open to postgraduate students in Landscape Architecture and undergraduate students of the last year of Landscape Architecture programs, or those attending a Landscape Architecture course included in other programs (where University does not include a program specifically identified as Landscape Architecture). Universities and professors are required to invite their students to participate in this international workshop. Teams of 5 students + the professor will participate following a selection. Selected teams must participate with their professor and will be guided by Italian and foreigner tutors with experience in landscape architecture and in working with students. The Students Charette of the 53 rd IFLA World Congress is carried out from 16 th to 19 th April 2016. The Charette addresses a suburban site in Turin (Barca-Bertolla), where the Congress is held. Students will visit the project site and will receive information on it and its context. The IFLA Students Charette gives students the opportunity to create new landscape architecture designs by applying an integrated approach and combining different design instruments. Students are requested to work rapidly in teams within a predetermined time period meeting a deadline. Participants will be asked to present the result of their work, explaining design goals and objectives. An international Jury will select the three best works that will be awarded in a ceremony and exhibited during the Congress. OBJECTIVES The aim of this Charette is to develop a planning and spatial design of the area increasing the Green Infrastructure value and the ecosystem services.

Main purpose is to enhance the special character and identity of the landscape of the area: - the strong natural character - the strategic location in terms of connectivity to the city of Turin - the historical memory of the traditional community of the washers - urban agriculture GOALS The Charette gives an opportunity to students from all around the world to create new landscape architecture designs through an integrated approach to the landscape and combining different design media. Students will be provided with digital and direct information of the area. At the end of the event, participants will be asked to present their design approach and proposal for the site. ELIGIBILY OF PARTICIPANTS The Charette of the 53 rd IFLA World Congress is open to all teams of graduate students and to groups/teams of undergraduate students of the last year of Landscape Architecture programs, or those studying landscape architecture (where a country or university does not include a program specifically identified as Landscape Architecture). Each group/team can participate together with its professor. The number of participants in each team shall not exceed five (5), plus the professor. Each student is permitted only one entry. Only Landscape Architecture students registered to attend the 53nd IFLA World Congress, who manifest their interest to participate in the Charette, are eligible to take part of it. Participants will be chosen in order to ensure a plurality of nationalities and schools. English is the official language.
