Calibration Guide PREPARATION Adventurer Pro Adventurer Pro balances have two calibration methods: Span and Linearity. Some models have Internal Calibration (InCal ) for Span calibration. Ensure that the scale is level, stable, and undisturbed during calibration. (Otherwise the process could fail.) Allow scale to warm up for five minutes after stabilizing to room temperature. Use suitable calibration masses (available from Ohaus). Exact weight value depends on model. Follow prompts for indicated values to use. (Weight values here are examples only.) Calibration may be locked out. To unlock it, use the Unlock menu. If the scale is set to Legal for Trade operation, a seal must be broken to unlock it. (See the Instruction Manual.) Note: To cancel calibration, press: INTERNAL CALIBRATION (No external weight needed.) 1 1 When calibration finishes, balance returns to currently selected mode. SPAN CALIBRATION (If InCal appears press No.) 1 1 (Acquiring zero value) 1 (Place weight on pan.) (If SPAN DONE flashes, remove mass from Pan.) (Press No to change.) Balance returns to weighing mode. Quick Start Guide Scout Pro Balance OPERATION Weighing Start with the balance on. 1 (Rezero the display) (Place sample on platform) (Example 0g) Taring a Container s Weight Taring zeros the container weight. With balance on, place an empty container on the platform. (Container weight) 1 (Container weight tared) (Place material in container) (Material and container removed) (0g sample) To remove tare, press ON/ZERO Off again. ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS Use the Units Menu to activate Parts Counting or Percent Weighing. (See back page.) To enable Display Hold, Totalize and Specific Gravity, use the Setup/Mode submenu. Parts Counting has two modes: (See Instruction Manual for more details.) Normal: balance determines quantity based on average weight of parts in original reference quantity. Enhanced: additional parts can be added to the platform ( the original number). The additional reference quantity produces a more accurate average part weight. Percent Weighing: place a reference weight on the balance, then view other loads as a percentage of the reference. The reference weight equals100%. Display-Hold mode captures and stores the highest stable value. When displayed, the stability indicator blinks. Note: Units cannot be changed when in Display-Hold mode. Totalize allows storage of a series of weight measurements. Totalize mode has been initiated when t and the current unit are displayed together. When totalized weight is shown, the t indicator blinks. Note: Units cannot be changed when in Totalize mode. The Specific Gravity mode allows calculating the specific gravity of a sample. (SPEC.GR mode must be turned ON before removing platform and installing hook.) Ohaus Corporation www.ohaus.com iii Scout Pro Balance Quick Start Guide
