Waves is a slightly more than semicircular shawl that is knit from the neck edge downward. Short rows form the neck rounding, followed by regular increases in the body of the shawl. It can easily be shortened or lengthened by knitting more or less pattern sections. In order to distribute these ends over both sides of the shawl you shift the stitches to the other end of the circular needle: upon completion of a pattern section in color A, begin with color B on the wrong side (WS) of the piece and, upon completion of the garter stitch section in color B, begin with color A on right side (RS) of the piece.
