FOSS Cloud
Definition The FOSS Cloud (Free Open Source Software Cloud) is is serving a virtual Server and Desktop Environment. In addition it contains subsystem functionality for identity and access management as well as an open source printing and data management. Open Source Based virtual Destkop (OSBD) Open Source Based virtual Server (OSBS) FOSS Cloud Identity & Access Management FOSS Cloud Printing and Data Management Pure Open Source Solution without License Costs License EUPL available on sourceforge.net FOSS Cloud has been created out of different FOSS projects
Features The most important Features of the FOSS Cloud: Fat Client Access through Windows, Linux, Handhelds Web access throug Windos IE and Firefox PXE boot High resolution Display (up to 4 Displays, 32 bit) Streaming Video Bi directional audio and Video USB redirection 1.0, 2.0 and soon 3.0 Seamless Windows application support with MS Terminal Server Persistent sessions Smartcard authentication Central management of Linux and Windows printing FollowMe printing Client operating system support for Linux, Windows

FOSS Cloud Distributed Datacenter (DDC) FOSS Cloud DDC is designed for distributed or multinational enterprises or organizations Central management Maintenance of images central on the FOSS Cloud Masterserver Regional Datacenter will be updated periodically Storage and LDAP can be replicated if required High performance through high scalability High availability Unlimited numbers of DDC's
FOSS Cloud Support for mobile User The standard operating system on a laptop/notebook is replaced by a Linux based Mini OS, which support the hardware and the file system. The mini OS start the imageloader. This will initiate the start of a virtual os depending end user profile (e.g. Linux or Windows). Harddisk Function File System Mini OS Image Loader For off line function, the laptop is running an own mini virtualization system, similar to the VDI. The laptop holds on his file system an identical image like the images on the VDI. Attached to users network, the local image will be synchronized with the central master image. So images on the laptops are always up to date and do not need to be maintained seperately.
