Focus is given to areas of study for committed Christians interested in getting deeper into biblically based professional development education to hone their ministry skills, but who do not necessarily desire to obtain a diploma or degree. Courses are taught at a post-secondary level. The final average of courses for a Certificate must be passed with a "C" or higher final average. Transcripted credit is available. New applicants for the Certificate program may transfer in up to credit hours to meet biblical studies requirements with a "C" or better grade from a higher education institution recognized by USDE or CHEA. Challenge Exams are available through the Registrar's Office for evaluating a written academic request to use additional biblical studies coursed as transfer credit. SEASONED SAINTS CERTIFICATES PROGRAM SBI s Seasoned Saints Certificate program is special non-degree, continuing education program, offered at a reduced tuition rate for encouraging and enriching Seniors in their spiritual walk and applicable knowledge of the Bible. Students do not receive traditional academic credit, but instead mark their educational achievements through CE Units (Continuing Education Units). A transcripted 1 CEU credit of CR is offered for successful completion of each course. Additional credit is offered in conjunction with the ETA (Evangelical Training Association) for select courses. DIPLOMA The Diploma academic program is designed for students desiring an advanced level biblical studies for the entire Bible with introductory spiritual formation and theological studies. As an option and in conjunction with these courses, students can choose to take an additional credit hours and graduate with a distinction in systematic theology, premier preaching or expository teaching from the Biblical Studies Diploma program. This in turn opens the door for a student to enter SBI's Associate of Science degree with substantial, applicable credit for completing the degree. Accepted students for the Diploma program may transfer in up to 6 credit hours to meet biblical studies requirements with a "C" or better grade from a higher education institution recognized by USDE or CHEA. Challenge Exams are available through the Registrar's Office for evaluating additional biblical and theological studies transfer credit. SPRF 3130 Biblical Foundations for Servant Leadership must be taken through SBI. Diploma students must complete field education-christian service requirements through the Servant Leadership Education Development program, and all other program and graduation candidate requirements to receive the Diploma. After Diploma program completion a student may chose to pursue other studies through professional development courses in a Certificate program, or take additional systematic theology courses at SBI (if not done so under the distinction option), or take general education courses leading to an Associate of Science degree. Upon graduation with an AS degree, the student may pursue admission into Moody Bible Institute's Bachelor of Ministry Leadership degree through the two schools course articulation agreement. ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE SBI's Associate of Science degree in Biblical Studies is designed for a student who desires two years of biblical higher education with a major in biblical studies and broad general education studies. After completion of these courses, students can choose to take additional systematic theology courses and graduate with a systematic theology distinction from the Associate of Science degree program. Accepted students for the Associate of Science degree program may transfer in up to 9 credit hours to apply toward general education requirements (non-biblical/theological or ministry course work) and up to 9 hours in biblical studies with a "C" or better grade from a higher education institution recognized by USDE or CHEA. BACHELOR OF ARTS BIBLICAL THEOLOGICAL STUDIES SBI's Bachelor of Arts degree is primarily designed for the student pursuing professional, vocational ministry studies to earn an entry level degree or desiring to transfer acceptable previous post-secondary credits to earn a bachelor s degree. All BA students major in biblical and theological/spiritual formation studies and gain broad general education knowledge in which all curriculum areas are integrated into a bible-centered worldview. Professional studies tracks include ministry leadership, worship leadership, biblical counseling, premier preaching, expository teaching, and Greek exegesis giving the graduated student the ability to pursue ministerial vocations, enter the market place with marketable preparation, or advance to a higher degree level of study. Accepted students into the Bachelor of Arts degree program may transfer in up to 24 open electives and 36 other applicable transfer hours meeting degree plan requirements. Professional education courses are transferable only by block transfer from a whole professional studies track into the 24 credit hours for open electives.
