Administrative Office Specialist Are you a people person? Can you resolve customer issues with courtesy and tact? As an Office Specialist, you are responsible for evaluating situations, providing the most useful and appropriate information, and explaining in general terms the procedures and functions of the various county and other government agencies. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. Certificate plus two (2) years of office support experience dealing with administrative matters, customer accounts, customer service problems, and general clerical with experience in the use of computers and general office equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Administrative Support Specialist Can you multi-task? In this position you will have full departmental responsibility for ensuring that the administrative areas of assignment are completed in accordance with laws and policies. You will regularly develop work processes and procedures and may serve the administrative needs of several managers or supervisors. An employee in this classification exercises a high degree of independent judgment and is required to have an extensive working knowledge of departmental operations, and in particular, the area of assignment. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) years clerical experience preparing, processing, and maintaining administrative records plus operating a personal computer using prescribed software applications and typing skills; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. As a Department Training Specialist you will determine training needs, plan, organize, and develop training materials. You will develop courses and programs relating to the activities of the assigned department or group. Desktop publishing, graphic design, web design, press releases, magazine articles, radio and TV interviews, presentations, advertising campaigns, and marketing are just a few of the responsibilities of a Public Relations Specialist. Keeping the public informed and creating a greater awareness of conservation programs provide a very rewarding work environment. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor s Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field and two (2) years public relations experience that has included directing, marketing, and advertising campaigns; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Solid Waste Specialist Taking care of our environment is everyone s responsibility. However, in this position you are directly involved with ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Primary duties may involve direction and coordination of activities relating to the landfill, waste-to-energy facility, recycling programs, and solid waste permit compliance. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of field experience in an environmental or solid waste related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. Solid Waste Technician Are you a people-oriented communicator who could educate the public to increase waste reduction and recycling? This position involves a variety of public outreach tasks such as solid waste facility tours and speaker presentations. This position also develops programs that promote waste reduction and recycling throughout the county. There are data management duties that include monitoring solid waste/recycling contracts, collecting field data, reviewing reports, and presenting program information to governmental agencies as well as the public. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor s degree with major coursework in education, natural or social science; or four (4) years experience in recycling or other solid waste operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. 5

Finance Accountant Are you good with numbers? Is math your favorite subject? In this position you will maintain ledger accounts and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. The accountant is responsible for mathematical correctness and legal compliance. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor s degree in accounting or business administration and two (2) years experience in moderately complex accounting work. Accounting Services Coordinator Are you ready for more difficult accounting duties? This job includes professional accounting work in the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial accounting management systems to include processes and/or databases. This position promotes accounting and regulatory policies and procedures to guide employees in their assigned tasks. Independent professional accounting expertise and judgment are required. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master s degree in accounting or a related field, plus two (2) years professional experience that includes one (1) year of supervisory training or experience; or eight (8) years experience in progressively responsible professional accounting work covering a complex computerized accounting system that include one year of supervisory training or experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. In this position you will serve as a lead worker in contract agreements, support a department by monitoring project schedules of architectural, engineering, and construction projects, and prepare project cost/status reports. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited junior college with an Associate degree emphasizing accounting or business administration and two (2) years experience in basic accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. 6

Technical Utilities Chemist 1 Are you interested in what s in your drinking water, wastewater, and reclaimed water? Do you want to be part of a team that ensures that our drinking water is safe? A Utilities Chemist performs chemical, biological, bacteriological, and physical analysis of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water and/or solids. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, biology, or related science discipline. Water Quality Management Specialist 1 Like field work in a technical occupation? This field work specializes in collecting and analyzing county water resources including potable water, groundwater, surface water, wastewater, and reclaimed water. The Water Quality Management Specialist ensures compliance with the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act by monitoring, inspecting, sampling, and evaluating data, and also enforcing regulations and codes relating to the protection of the public health and the environment. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree with major course work in environmental, physical, natural or biological science, engineering, or related field; or possession of an Associate degree with coursework in biology, chemistry, or a related field and two (2) years experience in field monitoring and/or laboratory analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver s License. Senior Engineer Do you like to design and build? In this position you will create and oversee development of new construction. In addition, you will renew and replace wastewater collection and transmission systems, reclaimed water transmission and distribution systems, wastewater treatment and disposal facilities, water production facilities, water distribution systems, and solid waste facilities. Minimum Qualifications: Possession and maintenance of a Professional Engineer Certification by the State of Florida and four (4) years of experience in the design and construction of Public Works projects, which has included one (1) year of supervisory responsibility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Hydrogeologist Have you ever wondered what happens to water when it goes into the ground? As a Hydrogeologist you will discover the exciting world down under. This highly technical position studies the relationships of geologic materials and water. This professional scientific work requires a high level of experience and expertise in managing, coordinating, and performing complex hydrological, geotechnical, geological, and hydrogeological projects on behalf of the county s water, wastewater and solid waste operations. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in geology or environmental engineering or related field, plus five (5) years of professional level experience in geology and hydrogeology, and certification as a Professional Geologist; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. 7
