Stream 1 Regional Natural Resource Planning for Climate Change in the Lachlan in the Southern Rivers NRM Lachlan This project will build on the strengths of the Lachlan (Kalare) Action Plan by providing the communities and stakeholders of the Lachlan the data and planning processes required to make informed, effective decisions and investments to manage risk and opportunity associated with and carbon sequestration. This project will ensure the catchment has the appropriate level tools to build resilience in its landscape and communities. $351,000 in the Western Southern Rivers Western This project will support al communities to adopt strategies that build landscape resilience against extreme climatic events with a focus on biosequestration activities. Spatial modelling of social and biophysical information, combined with participatory planning approaches, will engage land and water managers to identify where and how this can be achieved in the landscape. Priorities that target and link carbon sequestration activities and improvements to habitat corridors will be identified. This project will build on the recent revision of the Western Action Plan to provide clear guidance on the implementation of mitigation and carbon sequestration initiatives within the. It will prepare the for participation in the growing carbon market and guide adaptation to. The updated plan will ensure that the al community is well-placed to gain positive natural resource management benefits from the carbon economy by guiding the development of well-targeted, appropriately-designed projects. The update will use an evidence-based approach reflecting the Principles for the Planning for Climate Change Fund. $410,400 $668,518

Stream 1 Regional Natural Resource Planning for Climate Change $455,940 in the Murrumbidgee Murrumbidgee The Murrumbidgee (CMA) has developed a project delivery framework consisting of seven key phases to guide the update process to incorporate adaptation and mitigation strategies and actions into the existing Murrumbidgee Action Plan (CAP) 2013. The framework has been developed to address the Principles for the Planning for Climate Change Fund and will lead to the development of a CAP able to guide where carbon bio-sequestration opportunities exist, including priority landscapes for carbon plantings. The delivery of this project will have close synergies with outcomes from the Stream 2 CSIRO led project 'Planning for climate variability in the Murray Basin NRM Cluster'. The framework also includes: - extensive and on-going community and stakeholder engagement; - a highly skilled project team providing technical expertise; - an analysis of currently available tools, models and data; - the incorporation of the latest climate predictions and scenarios made available through the and ACT Regional Climate Model (NARCLiM) project; - the use of spatial modelling and decision making tools including Multi Criteria Analysis Shell for Spatial Decision Support (MCAS-S) to determine opportunities that maximise environmental benefits and landscape resilience; and - strategies for continual improvement and adaptive management. $353,400 in the Namoi Namoi Namoi will collaborate with stakeholders (including the community, Aboriginal groups, all levels of government, industry, al development organisations, scientific research entities and land managers) to update the Namoi Action Plan (CAP) 2010-2020 in relation to, its impacts, and options for mitigation and adaptation. The latest data, information and opportunities to maximise environmental benefits and increase landscape resilience through mitigation will be incorporated. The updated CAP will focus on the 3 socio-ecological systems (Tablelands, Slopes & Plains). Detailed mapping, and information on strategies and associated co-benefits (environmental, production and socio-economic) will be documented as an addendum to the CAP. 2

Stream 1 Regional Natural Resource Planning for Climate Change in the Northern Rivers NRM Northern Rivers This project builds on the planning and engagement undertaken and shared socio-ecological system understanding which grew out of the development of the Northern Rivers Action Plan 2013 2023 (CAP2). The project will produce 2 addendums to CAP2. The first is a technical report that maps priority areas for carbon biosequestration. These areas will be identified in consultation with experts and community. The second is a user friendly guide for carbon biosequestration in the. This guide will include a prospectus of the carbon biosequestration locations and partnership opportunities that will facilitate the roll out of carbon bio-sequestration funds. $417,467 $352,830 in the Central West NRM Central West This project will assess the suitability of the current plan, identify areas for further development and, through a community engagement model, will develop a specific attachment for the current Action Plan. This attachment will address the al needs for and the carbon economy to ensure that the impacts of are considered throughout the state and transition models of the plan. It will guide landscape scale NRM benefits in conjunction with neighbouring s, through the carbon economy and minimise any potential negative impacts. The revised plan will provide clear guidance for carbon project developments in the. $320,575 in the Hunter- Central Rivers Hunter- Central Rivers The Hunter - Central Rivers (CMA) has recently upgraded its strategic al natural resource management plan ( Action Plan 2013-2023 - [the CAP]). The CAP identified as a key threat to ecosystem function and as a key driver of natural resource condition change in the. This project will incorporate the most up to date scientific data, knowledge and policy into the Hunter - Central Rivers CMA CAP. The project will achieve this by building the understanding and knowledge of natural resource managers in the and developing specific CAP strategies and priorities for dealing with the potential impacts of in the, both as a result of itself and the landuse change that will likely occur through major policy initiatives such as the Clean Energy Future Program. 3

Stream 1 Regional Natural Resource Planning for Climate Change $318,001 in the Hawkesbury- Nepean NRM Hawkesbury- Nepean The project will identify and define the activities needed to upgrade the Hawkesbury Nepean Action Plan (Regional NRM Plan) to guide implementation that will mitigate impacts while delivering multiple benefits in creating resilient landscapes and enhancing biodiversity condition and connectivity. The process will be guided by extensive community consultation to identify opportunities, raise awareness and build support for management for. The project will incorporate new knowledge on climate projections as it becomes available in an adaptive approach so that decisions are based on the best available knowledge. The decision support tools for management will be built on the extensive spatial analysis capacity present in the Hawkesbury Nepean using multi-criteria analysis of spatial data so that optimal outcomes in mitigation, environmental condition and cost effectiveness will be delivered. $404,296 in the Border Rivers-Gwydir Border Rivers- Gwydir We will collaborate with the community, Indigenous groups and stakeholders to update the Action Plan (CAP) for. The project will engage with the community, collaborate with partners, and integrate the best and most up-todate climate information. This will ensure the CAP identifies opportunities for improving carbon biosequestration, biodiversity and primary production in a changing climate. It will be spatially explicit, identifying areas where actions and targets will help to mitigate the effects of. It will guide all people who have a vested interest in building resilience across the landscape and their enterprises. 4

Stream 1 Regional Natural Resource Planning for Climate Change $277,000 in the Murray Murray This project will ensure NRM plans used by Murray (CMA) and the future Murray Local Land Services (LLS) are informed by the best available data on landscape resilience, agricultural production capacity and community adaptive capacity, by: (1) Identifying biodiversity priorities for the western Murray catchment (4,257,020 ha of the former Lower Murray Darling incorporated into Murray in October 2012). This builds on the existing Biodiversity Plan for the central and eastern Murray catchment, and will be delivered through a partnership between Murray CMA and Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH). (2) Allowing new biodiversity priorities to be integrated with agricultural production priorities to ensure climate impact mitigation strategies minimise impacts on the agricultural sector and rural communities. This builds on two existing projects identifying prime agricultural production areas and the adaptive capacity of communities in the Murray catchment. This will be achieved through the development of a Biodiversity Plan for the western Murray catchment and a number of related spatial products to assist in the prioritisation of biodiversity conservation and mitigation activities. 5
