Chinese steam cabinets used by most Chinese restaurants produce massive amounts of steam that can raise kitchen temperatures by several degrees. Cool Kitchen has cleverly implemented a heat recycling system to make use of such waste heat. To collect waste heat, a heat exchanger is installed on the top of a Chinese steam cabinet. When cool water passes through the exchanger, it will be heated for cleaning and cooking purposes, turning waste heat into a free energy source. Thanks to its ingenious open kitchen layout, cool air from dining area is circulated to the kitchen before being discharged. Besides airflow circulation, the restaurant has adopted electric cooking equipment which effectively lower the temperature in the kitchen, thereby helping Cool Kitchen live up to its name. Munsang College - GREEN Plus Console Munsang College Nurtures 3,600 Green Student Ambassadors M unsang College has recently become the first school in Hong Kong to join the GREENPLUS School Programme. With the support of CLP and Green Power, Munsang College installed the first campus energy consumption monitoring system - GREENPLUS Console. In addition, renewable applications, including solar panels and a wind turbine, were installed on the campus roof and three innovative greenhouses were setup on the sports ground. The GREENPLUS Console located next to tuck shop broadcasts real time information such as the college s total energy consumption, carbon emissions, the amount of solar and wind power generated by the campus s renewable system, as well as energy saving tips and local weather information. Students are encouraged to participate in an inter-class energy-saving competition where energy consumption levels of all Form 3 classes will be displayed side by side for performance benchmarking. Through behavioral change, the programme is expected to nurture 3,600 green student ambassadors, enabling Munsang College to reduce carbon emission by 30 tonnes in the first year. Furthermore, three greenhouses in the campus sports ground were built using reused plastic bottles as the key building materials. Solar panels were installed to power the lighting, ventilation and irrigation systems of each greenhouse in a carbon neutral manner. Munsang College also organises regular eco-friendly activities and inter-class competitions to realise its vision of being a low-carbon campus. Tung Fong Hung Installs LED Lamps Tung Fong Hung Cuts Energy Bills by Half with LED Lighting T ung Fong Hung Medicine Co. Ltd. operates a business that requires a bright lighting scheme and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
