Entry Requirements Required Documents for Application Nomination and Application Procedure for Student Exchange Program Nomination & Application Must have good academic standing Must be a currently enrolled student Must NOT be a student in his/her last year of study Must be officially nominated by home institution Must be fluent in either Korean or English (equivalent to English Proficiency Test score of one of the following: TOEFL CBT 220 IBT 80, TOEIC 800, or IELTS 6.5) 1) Online application form 2) One passport-sized photograph 3) Official academic transcript 4) Letter of academic reference 5) Certificate of Health 6) Statement of purpose and goals 7) Clear copy of a valid passport 8) Private health insurance copy (must be valid throughout the student s whole study abroad period) this can be submitted after the student is admitted to KUBS. 9) Resume (optional) * All supporting documents MUST be prepared to upload the online application in English or with English translation prior to applying for online application. * Material 3, 4, and 5 MUST be submitted in hardcopies to the Inbound Student Exchange Program manager via mail by the deadline indicated. * NOTICE: Please try NOT to nominate the students who are in their last year of study and have any required courses for graduation, as there is a high demand for several of our courses and it is possible that students may be unable to take the courses they need. 1. Before the official nomination, exchange coordinators MUST consult with the KUBS exchange program manager concerning the number of Student Exchange Program nominees. 2. Once the number of nominees has been confirmed, you may fill in the KUBS Nomination Sheet and return it to the manager. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail with a link to KUBS s online application. 3. Students must submit the online application by the deadline indicated. 4. Once the student s application is approved, a Letter of Admission will be sent to the individual student through e-mail first. After a few weeks, the Admission Package including 1) original copy of Letter of Admission, 2) Certificate of Admission (for visa application), and 3) Business License of Korea University will be sent to the home institution. 5. Exchange coordinators at partner universities are responsible for making sure all students have international private health insurance that will be valid during their whole exchange period at KUBS. Those who do not submit the copy of private health insurance will NOT be allowed to enroll at KUBS even if they have received the Letter of Admission. 6. Students can submit a copy of Private Health/Travel Insurance at the time of online application submission. If they need more time, they can also submit it within 2 weeks of receiving the Letter of Admission through e-mail. 7. The students will be fully admitted to KUBS only when KUBS receives the copy of the private health/travel insurance. 4

* The final list for KUBS courses available for exchange students will be sent to the individual students in February for spring semester and in August for fall semester. * Due to the reason above, there could be very limited choices in terms of KUBS courses especially for the fall semester. Therefore, students at the graduate level are strongly recommended to come on the exchange program in the spring semester. MBA Courses * MS students are NOT allowed to take MBA courses. http://sugang.korea.ac.kr > Graduate School of Business Administration > Global MBA * MBA exchange students are strongly recommended to apply for the spring semester term because Global MBA elective courses are usually offered during Module 4&5. Module 1&2 are major core courses and most of the KUBS MBA students already have the background for the core courses. * MBA students are NOT allowed to take MS courses. Korean Language Courses * Korean language courses are offered during the regular semesters. There are 6 different levels from Beginner to Advanced. * Korean courses for exchange students can be found at http://sugang.korea.ac.kr > General Subject > General Studies > Elective General Studies > IFLS108 113 / IFLS240 247. * For those who wish to take Korean language classes, no prior knowledge of the Korean language is required but the placement test is mandatory. It will be held on the first day of the class. * Non-credit Korean language classes are offered to students who completed a regular semester at KUBS during the summer/winter vacation (4 weeks). Grading System Professors have full authority for evaluating students. Each student s academic performance is graded according to the following criteria: exams and assignment results, attendance, and class participation, etc. A minimum of 70% attendance is required in order for a student to earn a passing grade. Room application will be complete once students transfer the deposit of KRW 200,000. The residence office will directly contact the students via e-mail for full payment when the room assignments are made for them. All on-campus accommodation is located within about 20 minutes of walking distance from the main campus. Off-campus Accommodation There are quite a lot of private student accommodations called Goshitel near campus, reachable by 5-10 minutes walk. These accommodations vary widely in terms of room size, rate, meals, cleaning, and laundry services. Prices range from approximately KRW 350,000 to KRW 700,000 per month, and the average price is about KRW 550,000. For more detailed information, please visit http://goshipages.com. Moreover, general information on housings in Seoul is also available at the Seoul Global Center website, http://global.seoul.go.kr > Living > Housing. Homestay Korea (http://homestaykorea.com) can put students in touch with families willing to host for a homestay student, and reservations are available in English. Private Health/Travel Insurance Insurance All exchange students coming to study at KUBS MUST provide a copy of their private health/travel insurance that is valid from the moment they leave their home country to the time when they depart from Korea. A copy of insurance certificate should be submitted to the manager in charge either at the time of application or within 2 weeks of receiving the Letter of Admission. Student Visa Student Visa (D-2) All international incoming students except for those who have Korean citizenship MUST apply for a D-2 student visa to study at KUBS. Students can apply for the visa at the nearest Korean Embassy or a Korean consulate in one s home country (or for those who have Chinese nationality, in the country where the home institution is located) by submitting the three documents sent in the admission package, Certificate of Admission, Letter of Admission, Business License of Korea university. Orientation for Exchange Students Arrival Guide Orientation is MANDATORY for all incoming exchange students. Spring Semester: last week of February Fall Semester: last week of August Airport Pick-up Service * Specific dates will be found on the Letter of Admission. There will be a FREE meet-and-greet service for students who will be living in KU on-campus residence halls, and who are attending the international orientation program. If students would like to be picked up at Incheon international airport and taken to their hall of residence, they MUST submit the online airport pick-up service form (http://oia.korea.ac.kr > Board > Request > Other Requests). Please note that the airport meeting service operates at Incheon international airport only and is available only for flights that arrive before 9pm. The bus to Korea University will depart every two hours from 8am until 10pm during the two days. Students may have to wait at the airport until other incoming students arrive. The approximate travelling time from the airport to KU is normally 1.5 to 2 hours. 8

International students will have the opportunity to experience and participate in KU's events and learn about Korean culture while building strong friendships with buddies. KUBS Buddy is a KUBS student volunteers organization to specifically help KUBS international students in adjusting to KUBS life and advise in course selections. KUBS exchange students will be contacted by their buddies before their arrival in Korea.
