The Prodigy Finance solution is revolutionary because it really increases the depth and access to higher education for international students through a financial solution that is pertinent to traditional investors... it is a true example of a win/win situation. What do you think the impact of an international loan programme has been? The impact has been huge. We know that we re recruiting students who, without the loan, might not have been able to join us. So for us the ability for those students to access this funding has meant that we ve recruited some brilliant people who might not be in the class otherwise. What would you like to say to the investors who funded your studies? A massive thank you to everybody who s helped fund my studies. It s genuinely not an exaggeration to say that if it weren t for the Prodigy scheme, I wouldn t have been able to do the Cranfield MBA programme. It has been transforming for me. Schemes like this give people like me opportunities to really fulfill our ambitions and hopefully go out to do great things in the world. As featured in
Up to 65% of top MBAs need funding but banks struggle to lend internationally. Banks cannot price foreign risk nor enforce repayment across borders. Traditional lending models only assess historical indicators (e.g. past salary or current assets), ignoring likely salary increases after business school. The 2008 credit crunch aggravated these problems; governments cut education funding, and banks pulled out of student lending.
Our Revolutionary Model In our community finance model, the school community funds the next generation of MBAs. Investments from school endowments, institutions, and other impact investors help supplement funding. Investors support students at their alma mater (or another school) and earn a competitive financial return. Schools obtain the best students (regardless of financial need) and increase diversity. Students receive funding for business school and connect with the school community. The Prodigy Community Our global community of investors and student borrowers is comprised of talented business leaders. Investors Our investors are a combination of alumni, members of the school community, and non-alumni looking for socially responsible investments. Students Our students come from 111 nationalities and benefit considerably from their business degrees. Top MBAs experience salary increases of c. 112% after graduating, often working at top firms. Why it Works We combine innovation with industry best practice, to ensure exceptional performance: 99% repayment to date. Borderless loans Funding and legal enforcement of loans for students from 150 different nationalities. Localised risk screening Country-specific risk assesment of every applicant worldwide.
