Healthy Weight Loss Program NEW! SlimStyles PGX Granules SlimStyles PGX SlimStyx: Available in convenient single-serving Slimstyx packets (2.5 g each) All the products in this brochure are available at NUTRITION HOUSE

What to Expect from PGX PGX not only is a powerful tool for weight loss; its impact on improving your over-all well-being is immeasurable. One of the actions of PGX is that it gently expands in the digestive tract which helps you feel full and satisfied for hours as well as balances your blood sugar. It may take time for your body s digestive tract to get use to the added soluble fibre. For the first few days some people may experience gas, bloating, loose stools or diarrhea. To get your body accustomed to PGX we recommend you start off with a 1/2 dose of the Meal Replacement or Appetite Control Fibre Blend until the symptoms subside, then gradually increase the dose as tolerated. In most cases bowel symptoms diminish as your body becomes accustomed to the increased fibre and the colon learns to recover the absorbed water from PGX. Smaller people, with lower appetites, may find that 1/2 servings are enough to keep them completely full for hours and they may be better to stay with smaller serving sizes. On the other hand, very heavy people with voracious appetites may have to take several doses of PGX per day to achieve optimal appetite control. The good news about PGX is that it is just healthy fibre and nearly all of us need far more fibre in our diets. Your body will benefit from PGX and it can be safely used by most people as a lifelong source of healthy fibre and appetite control. 1

PGX is the result of many years of extensive clinical and laboratory research at the University of Toronto, in collaboration with Canadian Center for Functional Medicine. These years of research, which culminated in the development of PGX, have been documented in numerous published scientific papers and presentations to major scientific organizations such as the American Diabetes Association* (a fully referenced scientific monograph discussing the science behind PGX can be downloaded from: www.slimstyles.com/pgx/monograph). When mixed with water, PGX initially creates a smooth appealing texture. Once ingested, PGX continues to thicken and expand for one to two hours as it absorbs water. To avoid a sense of dehydration, it is important to drink lots of water with PGX. By expanding in the stomach and intestine, PGX keeps appetite under control for several hours and provides a sense of fullness. The viscosity (thickness) and expansion of PGX is greater than any other fibre or fibre blend ever studied. Both the viscosity and the volume of a food in the stomach and intestine have a great influence on that food s ability to control appetite and provide a sense of satisfaction. So effective is the appetite controlling properties of PGX that many very heavy or even morbidly obese people are finding this to be a dramatic weight control breakthrough. 2

So effective is the appetite controlling properties of PGX that many very heavy or even morbidly obese people are finding this to be a dramatic weight control breakthrough. How does PGX control appetite? 1. Volumetric effects PGX absorbs up to 600 times its weight in water, causing it to gently expand in the digestive tract creating a satisfying sense of fullness. 2. Viscosity PGX is the most viscous (thickest when added to water) fibre ever found or created. The viscosity keeps the small intestine working for hours and signals are sent to the brain that keep you feeling satisfied. 3. Blood sugar & appetite hormone control PGX keeps blood sugar from rising too high after meals and it also eliminates hypoglycemic cravings 1 to 3 hours after meals. PGX also normalizes insulin levels and it results in higher levels of appetite controlling hormones. 3

Insulin Resistance The Greatest Plague of the 21 st Century The dramatic increase in weight problems and obesity seen around the world over the past 20 years is resulting in a catastrophic rise of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and many other serious health problems. Science now tells us that almost all of the health risks associated with increased body fat occur because overweight people develop insulin resistance, a state in which insulin no longer works efficiently and the body compensates for this by producing higher than normal amounts of insulin. Insulin resistance (and elevated insulin levels) exist in most people even in the earlier stages of being overweight (especially when that weight is around the belly). Insulin resistance results in elevated blood sugar (from mild elevations to serious diabetes), hypoglycemic food cravings and excessive appetite, overly efficient fat storage, increased blood pressure, damage to the heart and blood vessels, inflammation and many other abnormalities. As many as 40% of North American adults and an ever increasing numbers of children now have some degree of insulin resistance. PGX may be the most effective solution for insulin resistance ever discovered! Research presented at the 64th Annual Scientific Session of the American Diabetes Association demonstrates that in overweight, insulin resistant subjects, PGX lowers after-meal blood glucose by approximately 20% and also lowers insulin 4

secretion by approximately 40%, producing a whole body insulin sensitivity index improvement of nearly 50% a phenomenal accomplishment that is unequalled by any drug or natural health product. Because insulin sensitivity is restored, when PGX is used regularly, hypoglycemic cravings are eliminated and reducing food intake becomes a much more achievable goal. When PGX is used regularly reducing food intake becomes a much more achievable goal because insulin sensitivity is restored which eliminates hypoglycemic cravings. 5

NEW! Now available in convenient single-serving SlimStyx packets! SlimStyles PGX Granules & SlimStyles PGX SlimStyx Clinically proven appetite & weight control program New SlimStyles PGX Choose Between Granules or SlimStyx Convenient Single-Serving Packets PGX is the superior and effective approach to healthy weight loss and blood sugar control. Developed by Natural Factors in conjunction with the University of Toronto and the Canadian Center for Functional Medicine, PGX has become a new household word in a relatively short time. Why Unique Easy to sprinkle on cereal, yogurt or salads without imparting additional flavour. Add to a glass of water with or without a dash of lemon or lime. Granulated for superior dissolving and mixing qualities. Dissolves in liquids gradually within 10 to 20 minutes. Prevents lump formation. Prevents thickening too quickly. Granules mix extremely well with food. Allows uses in recipes and baking, such as making muffins and cakes, and even thickening gravies and sauces. Add PGX Granules to replace bran or other thickeners provides beneficial extra fibre that is nonirritating and ideal for weight loss recipes. Supplies highest viscosity fibre for the intestinal tract. Provides a greater feeling of fullness. PGX surpasses the viscosity of all other fibres by far under acidic stomach conditions. Even more outstanding, in the alkaline conditions of the intestine, PGX becomes 15 times thicker than any other fibre blend, quickly giving a sense of fullness and curbing appetite. Benefits Allows healthy weight loss (participants successfully lost up to two pounds per week). Reduces appetite comfortably and safely. Reduces food cravings. Increases metabolism. Regulates after-meal blood glucose levels. Increases insulin sensitivity for less fat storage. 6

SlimStyles PGX Granules & SlimStyles PGX SlimStyx Lowers blood cholesterol. Reduces hunger pangs. Prevents rebound weight gain. Eases the stress of dieting. Each level scoop (5 g) contains: PGX Granules proprietary blend 5 grams (highly purified blend of konjac-mannan (root), sodium alginate, and xanthan gum processed using advanced proprietary of EnviroSimplex technology). Dosage Stir 1 level scoop (5 g), 2 times daily into 375 ml to 500 ml of cold water or juice. Drink additional water (375 ml to 500 ml) after ingesting PGX. Begin with 1/2 scoop and gradually increase over several days as tolerated. Up to 1 scoop, 3 times daily may be required in some cases for optimal appetite control or as directed by a health practitioner. Use consistently before or with meals or healthy snacks to greatly reduce appetite and curb food cravings. Serving option: Sprinkle onto any moist food, yogurt, fruit salad, oatmeal, soup or any low calorie beverage or meal replacement. Note: You may experience a temporary change in your bowel movements as your body adjusts to the addition of PGX, usually within 3 to 7 days. Slowly work up to the full dose to help your body adjust to the PGX. It is important to drink adequate amounts of water (375 ml to 500 ml) immediately after ingesting PGX. In some rare cases constipation may occur in spite of increased fluid. If this happens just use supplementary probiotics such as Natural Factors Ultimate Probiotic. Safety Keep out of reach of children. Those under 18 years of age, pregnant, nursing or with serious health concerns, should consult their health practitioner before starting any weight loss plan. If taking medication, take one hour prior to or two hours after taking PGX. 67
