New features in IBM Cognos Controller version 10.2.1 This section describes the new features of Cognos Controller. Load balancing in IBM Cognos Controller IBM Cognos Controller can use multiple Cognos Controller application servers to balance the load. If you balance the load, then the work of the Cognos Controller Server is divided between separate Microsoft Windows servers. Load balancing can be achieved in the following ways: v Scaling up: If you add more CPU cores or more memory to a Cognos Controller application server, then the Cognos Controller application server will use the improved hardware. v Scaling out: If you add more separate Cognos Controller application servers, then you can spread the load between these separate servers. For more information, see the IBM Cognos Controller Installation and Configuration Guide. Separate Automatic Journal Types for E600-E603 As of IBM Cognos Controller 10.2.1 you can copy the Automatic Journal E60X and assign a different Automatic Journal Type other than 30 to the copy. By default, all E60X Automatic Journals have the Automatic Journal Type AJT 30. To direct transactions from E60X Automatic Journals to other Automatic Journal Types than 30, you can copy the Automatic Journal E60X and assign a different Automatic Journal Type to the copy. This can be useful if, for example, you want to have separate Automatic Journal Types for subsidiaries and associated companies. Improved functionality for the Investment Adjustments - The Dutch and Danish method The functionality of the contribution version entry in the E600-E603 Control Table Window is improved in IBM Cognos Controller. Select the contribution version if you want the adjustment to be calculated on a certain contribution version. You can include BASE, intercompany elimination (etyp 35), intercompany profit (etyp 36), and allocations (etyp 37) only in the calculation. Ribbon functionality of Microsoft Excel IBM Cognos Controller 10.2.1 uses the ribbon functionality of Microsoft Excel. You get an overview of the Cognos Controller menus that are available from within Microsoft Excel. In previous versions of Cognos Controller, these menus are found in a menu in Excel. The ribbon view is default irrespective of the Microsoft Excel version. Copyright IBM Corp. 2004, 2015 1

New server preferences New server preferences are available in IBM Cognos Controller 10.2.1. If you use the server preference REFPERCHK = OFF, then you do not have to enter an investment date in the investment register with a date the year before the actual acquisition. This server preference is only applicable to implementations that use investment adjustments (the Dutch & Danish method). Use the EXCEL_EXPORT_LOG parameter to log exports from Excel with fexpval(). View the log file in Cognos Controller Client from the menu Transfer > Log reports. 2 Install Guide
