Wireless Services E911 Support 50% of calls to 911 originate from wireless phones (FCC Consumer Facts Oct 2008) Calls are routed to Public Safety Answering Point ( PSAPs ) which are local government managed dispatch centers. Enhanced 911 ( E 911 ) provides caller location information, but not all PSAPs have the equipment to interpret it. Wireless carriers provide location info by: Triangulation from nearby cell sites (target accuracy 95% within 300m). GPS based (target accuracy 95% within 150m). Wireless E 911 location information is not perfect. For example, multi story buildings. FCC recommends providing your call back number to the 911 operator.
