Chancellor s Executive Order 849 California State University Insurance Requirements E.O. 849 effective: February 5, 2003. Establishes insurance requirements for contractors, suppliers, vendors, service providers, and others doing business with the University. Assigns responsibility to the Campus President to implement insurance requirements for agreements, contracts and purchases consistent with the CSU s insurance requirements. Specifies Insurance and Indemnification: type and amount of Insurance and Hold Harmless terms specified in E.O. 849 are the CSU s minimum requirements. Campus may modify certain conditions after proper risk identification, analysis and evaluation has been performed. 4
CSU s Minimum Insurance Requirements* General Liability: $1,000,000 occurrence/ $2,000,000 aggregate Auto Liability: $1,000,000 each Accident Workers Compensation & Employer s Liability: as required under California law. Other Insurance as may be required; e.g., Professional Liability, Environmental Impairment Liability (i.e., pollution), etc. Hold Harmless in favor of the State of California, the Trustees of the CSU, the campus, etc. Additional Insured on contractor s insurance naming the State of California, the Trustees of the CSU, the campus, etc. Policy Cancellation: Thirty (30) days written notice to campus. Minimum Security: A. M. Best rating: A VII or equivalent. Refer to E.O. 849 for full description 5

Special Events Liability Insurance Consists of 3 parts: A. Tenant-User Program B. Instructor-Recreation Program C. Nominee Event Program 9
A. Tenant-User Program one shot events Tenant-User Event - An event held or sponsored by companies, organizations, or individuals that have been permitted to use University premises. Certificates: issued with the User of the facility as the Named Insured, and the University as the Additional Insured. Coverage: provided for third parties using premises owned by the University. The University calculates the premium for the event and issues a Certificate of Insurance. Quarterly Reports: reports, copies of certificates, and a check for the premium for all events within the quarter are remitted to Alliant. 10
B. Instructor-Recreation Program outside instruction Instructor-Recreation Event - An event that is instructional to its participants. Instructors are not employees of the University, but provide instructional services for a fee. Note: Participant coverage requires signed waivers. Coverage: provided for instructors who wish to teach at a University facility. These events are reported to Alliant on a quarterly basis. Quarterly Reports: reports, copies of certificates and a check for the premium for all events within the quarter are remitted to Alliant. 11
C. Nominee Event Program sponsored functions Nominee Event - An event that is held or sponsored by the University or its department or division. Coverage: can be expanded to cover co-sponsors if desired. This is not a self-rated program. All events must be approved and rated by the insurance company. Certificates are issued by Alliant with the University as the Named Insured and the property owner (if other than the University) as the Additional Insured. 12

Instructor-Recreation Class January 1, 2006 to January 1, 2007 For Multiple Days: Total the attendance for all days of the class. Refer to rates and charge the premium corresponding to the total attendance. Traveling to or from or participating in a School Sponsored Activity. Covered Parties: Any Student, including students enrolled only in extended education programs of the CSU 21
Travel Accident Insurance - domestic School Sponsored Activity: Travel or participation in activities away from campus which: 1. is a part of a course requirement, or 2. is sponsored by a university auxiliary organization or other recognized student organization or club, 3. includes travel to or from intercollegiate athletic events away from campus but does not include participation in such events or practices. 22
