Oracle Insurance GA Hardware and Software Requirements OIGA Hardware and Software Requirements This document describes the minimum and recommended hardware and software requirements needed to install and run Oracle Insurance General Agent Management System (OIGA) version 8.0. Requirements are listed for a server/client configuration, a standalone configuration and for the database. When selecting a machine, the requirements should be based on transaction needs as well as the physical requirements to be made on the machine. A low number of users that processes large files may benefit from a more powerful environment. Likewise, a low number of users with smaller transaction needs may be able to use the minimum. If purchasing new computer equipment, Oracle Insurance strongly urges you to consider the hardware and software in the Recommended column for optimal performance. The software and hardware requirements listed in the Minimum column are supported for the current version of OIGA. These requirements may not be supported for future releases. NOTE OIGA requires a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 S/P4 or MS SQL 2005 S/P1 database. NOTE Requirements may change without notice. The requirements listed in this document are current as of the publication date found on the first and last pages of this document. OIGA Installation Configurations OIGA has two basic installation configurations: Server Client Standalone Server Client: Use this configuration if you plan to share your database between many users. This configuration requires that the OIGA server be on a separate machine from the clients and the OIGA client be on every individual user s machine. You can install the server instance on the same machine as the SQL Server database. However, you should be aware that this may affect performance. It is recommended that you have the SQL Server database on a separate machine for performance and security reasons. Standalone: Use this configuration if your database is not to be shared with other users. You can install the server and client on the same machine as the SQL Server database. However, you should be aware that this may affect performance. It is recommended that you have the SQL Server database on a separate machine for performance and security reasons. The following sections provide the minimum hardware/software requirements for all possible installation configurations. Oracle Insurance Support Policy Oracle Insurance supports Oracle Insurance products only. Oracle Insurance does not provide support for the other manufacturers hardware or software that is listed in this document. NOTE Netscape and Mac OS browsers are unable to fully support OIGA. Server Client Configuration, Server Requirements Server Requirements These are general guidelines with the assumption that the machines are under normal working conditions and not performing multiple high use tasks. Machines with greater demands will require increased computing power. Processor: RAM: Hardware Minimum 2 GHz (2 CPU per 100 Users) 4 GB Recommended 3 GHz or higher (2 CPU per 75 Users) 16 GB or higher Hard Disk Drive: 100 GB 500 GB or more with RAID capability Network Card: 100b T or 1000b T NIC or greater Internet Connection: T1 T1 or faster Software Minimum Recommended Network Operating System: Application Package: Database Management System: Microsoft Windows 2000 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5 Microsoft IIS 5.0 or Microsoft IIS 6.0 Microsoft Office Professional XP Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5 Microsoft IIS 5.0 or Microsoft IIS 6.0 Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 Internet Account: Browser: Any direct Internet Service Provider (except AOL ) Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher with 128 bit encryption Email: Microsoft Outlook XP Microsoft Outlook 2003 Label Printing: Any printer with a Windows driver that supports a selection of labels as a default paper option is required. Server Client Configuration, Client Requirements Client Requirements Below is a listing of the minimum operating environment recommended for OIGA clients. These are general guidelines with the assumption that the client machine is under normal working conditions and not performing multiple high use tasks. Client machines with greater demands will require increased computing power. Hardware Minimum Recommended Processor: 1 GHz 1 GHz or higher RAM: 1 GB for Windows XP 2 GB for Windows Vista 2 GB or higher for Windows XP 4 GB for Windows Vista Hard Disk Drive: 10 GB open hard drive space 20 GB open hard drive space or more Network Card: 100b T NIC or greater Internet Connection: DSL or faster T1 or faster Video Card/ Display: 1024x768, 32 bit color 1280 x 1024, 32 bit color Software Minimum Recommended Network Operating System: Application Package: Microsoft Windows 2000 with MDAC 2.8 Microsoft Office Professional XP Windows XP Service Pack 3 with MDAC 2.8 Or Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Internet Account: Browser: Any direct Internet Service Provider (except AOL ) Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1a with 128 bit encryption Email: Microsoft Outlook XP Microsoft Outlook 2003 Label Printing: Any printer with a Windows driver that supports a selection of labels as a default paper option is required. Server/Standalone Server requirements depend on the type of installation configuration you choose to employ. The configuration listed below is for when the server and client reside on the same machine either with the database or with the database on a separate machine. These are general guidelines with the assumption that the machines are under normal working conditions and not performing multiple high use tasks. Machines with greater demands will require increased computing power. Processor: RAM: Hardware Minimum 2 GHz (2 CPU per 100 Users) 4 GB Recommended 3 GHz or higher (2 CPU per 75 Users) 16 GB or higher Hard Disk Drive: 100 GB 500 GB or more with RAID capability Network Card: 100b T or 1000b T NIC or greater Internet Connection: T1 T1 or faster Video Card/ Display: 1024x768, 32 bit color 1280 x 1024, 32 bit color Software Minimum Recommended Network Operating System: Application Package: Database Management System: Microsoft Windows 2000 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5 Microsoft IIS 5.0 or Microsoft IIS 6.0 Microsoft Office Professional XP Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5 Microsoft IIS 5.0 or Microsoft IIS 6.0 Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 Internet Account: Browser: Any direct Internet Service Provider (except AOL ) Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher with 128 bit encryption Oracle Insurance GA Hardware and Software Requirements Page 7

Additional Considerations When selecting your hardware/software, please consider the following: Adobe Acrobat is required to print.pdf documents. The full version of Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or 7.0 must be installed on the Print Utility machine. If you are going to load WebGA: WebGa needs to be installed on the same machine as OIGA. Make sure you adjust the hardware/software requirements to allow for the additional load placed on the machine. If you are going to install OIDX: The OIDX Integration module must be installed on the same machine as OIGA Server to receive policy and commission updates from Insurance Carriers. Make sure you adjust the hardware/software requirements to allow for the additional load placed on the machine. If you are going to install Agent Desktop: Agent Desktop requires a special database that should be located on the same SQL Server where the OIGA database is located. Make sure you adjust the hardware/software requirements to allow for the additional load placed on the machine. OIGA 8.0 HAS NOT been tested with Office 2007, Adobe Acrobat 8.0, or 64 bit machines.
