FINAL WRITTEN REPORT: At the conclusion of the internship, the student is required to submit a 15 20 page written report. This report must include the following sections: Part I The Internship Experience. This section of the report presents a detailed description of the internship duties, work assignments, and projects completed. Its purposes are (a) to describe WHAT the intern did, (b) to show an understanding of WHY the intern engaged in these activities, and (c) to explain the OUTCOMES of the activities (both for the intern and for the company). Attachments might include samples of projects worked on or completed (e.g., brochures, questionnaires, public relations releases) during the internship. To aid in this section, the intern should to keep a "diary" during the experience. Part II Marketing Courses and the Internship. Here, the student must discuss, in detail, how at least three Marketing courses completed by the student contributed to the internship work experience. For each course, discuss what principles, ideas, or elements of the course were helpful (i.e. what did you learn that you used on the job). Also, were there ways in which courses did not provide adequate preparation (i.e. what did you need to know that you did not learn in class). Part III The Internship and Career Goals. The final section of the report must contain an appraisal of how the internship contributed to the student's career goals. In addition, it should offer an appraisal of the internship experience itself (e.g. was it well organized? worthwhile?) Here, it is important to state whether you think other students should be encouraged to undertake a similar internship with this organization, and to say why or why not. 3. GRADING: The internship will be graded on the basis of the Internship Evaluation Form (40%) and the written report (60%). Evaluation of the written report depends on content, as described above, and on its presentation. Presentation includes writing style (readability, proper spelling and grammar, etc.) as well as "packaging" (neatness, formatting, appropriate tables, diagrams, etc.) What you turn in should be a product that you would be able to show to a potential employer as a demonstration of your capabilities and the quality of your work.
