STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Clinical psychologists are involved in professional work relating to the behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of individuals and groups. Clinical psychologists are responsible for psychological assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients with problems of personality, emotional adjustment, mental health or substance abuse. A clinical psychologist assigned to an area, agency, school or educational facility provides clinical psychology services to students with acute, chronic or severe substance abuse problems. In this setting, clinical psychologists are concerned with student s problems of adjustment to their abuse through counseling and by the use of psychotherapeutic techniques. Clinical psychologist perform psychotherapy with students in individual or group sessions using one or more therapeutic techniques including analytical, existential, nondirective, behavior modification, etc. Another function of a clinical psychologist is in the administrative and interpretation of psychological test, which are used for diagnosing mental and personality disorders associated with substance abuse and for differentiating between organic and functional causes of substance abuse. Data derived from

psychological test are used to determine physical and psychological diagnoses. Psychologists commonly participate in a patient-care team, which may include a physician, social worker, counselors, and others. This determines the course and nature of a patient s program of substance abuse rehabilitation. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITIES: A. 05 Level The clinical psychologist has a full professional has a full time professional responsibility in the work area assigned, but typically works under the guidance and review of more experienced psychologists. Assignments include the following: -Perform psychological assessment and diagnosis. -Provide treatment plan and services. -Participate in patient-care team involving diagnosis, treatment, and progress of students. -Testing and assessment of personality as it relates to substance abuse. -Conducts individual and group psychotherapy session. -Provides consultation on psychological matters to other professional, parents, patrons, and pupils. -Uses a full range of diagnostic test for assessment and employ generally accepted psychotherapy techniques. -Supervises the counseling program at FIS. -Supervises the case consultation at FIS. SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Refer to BIE Education Position Categories and Qualifications Handbook for additional qualification requirements and substitutions for education. Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the BIE Education Position Category. BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Pay Level 05 Education Experience *PhD 0 Years Or equivalent. BASIS OF RATING: All applicants for this position will be rated and ranked based upon the extent and quality of their experience, training and/or education as reflected on the application. SUITABILITY & CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: A background security investigation is required. Appointment is subject to the successful completion of the security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
