004 Outotec Gold Processing Solutions Outotec Gold Processing Solutions 005 Concentrator and pressure oxidation technology for Petropavlovsk PLC Outotec recently supplied engineering, process equipment and technology to Petropavlovsk PCL, the second largest gold producer in Russia with assets located in the Far East. Extensive batch and continuous pilot autoclave test work and flowsheet development has been completed by Petropavlovsk in state-of-the-art laboratories in St Petersburg and Blagoveshchensk. Outotec s engineering expertise and proprietary process equipment were combined together with Petropavlovsk s process know-how. Outotec s delivery comprises flotation plant including all process equipment, instrumentation and process control system for the Malomir concentrator, as well as the entire pressure oxidation circuit including all process equipment and process control system for the Pokrovskiy pressure oxidation plant. Both the Malomir concentrator and Pokrovskiy pressure oxidation plants are currently under construction. Outotec Thickeners for counter-current decantation The Outotec High Rate Thickener has pioneered thickening and clarifying methods around the world and provides a robust and low-cost solution for countercurrent decantation of the oxidized slurry. Fluidized bed roasting is a proven technology with many references covering a wide spectrum of process scenarios. The roasting process for both whole ore and concentrate adds significant benefits to downstream processing. In roasting, elements posing problems in the leach recovery of gold are either oxidized, including carbon, sulfur, arsenic and antimony, or volatized as in the case with mercury, chlorides and telluride. The roasting process is autothermal, but additional heating is needed for ores with low sulfur and carbon content. The sulfur dioxide created during roasting is further processed from the process gas to sulfuric acid. Offgas impurities are removed in special gas cleaning steps and hazardous materials are further processed to concentrated products with high stability. Double refractory materials containing both sulfide minerals and organic carbon are especially suitable for roasting. The roasting process can be made in one or two steps depending on the concentrate or ore composition. The use of circulating fluidized bed "CFB" technology for roasting assures that the narrow temperature operation window required for the gold roasting process can be reached. In the case where arsenic or antimony is contained within the concentrate, partial roasting or two stage roasting is realized and arsenic is removed from the solid phase and transferred to the gas phase. Based on extensive know-how in chloride leaching, Outotec has developed a new environmentally friendly chloride leaching process for gold ores and concentrates. The new process combines effective gold leaching with a new type of gold solvent extraction process. Highly oxidizing power in gold leaching provides very fast leaching kinetics and excellent gold recovery. Gold can be extracted from pregnant leach solutions using an Outotec's patented solvent extractant. Pure gold product is precipitated directly from the stripping solution. Solvent extraction technology enables also direct silver recovery.
