Refunds and Cancellations No refunds will be made after the first class unless the class is discontinued by Southern Hills CTC. Registered students will be notified in the event the school cancels classes. Classes without adequate enrollment will be canceled or postponed. School Closing/Class Cancellation If Adult Education Classes or activities are canceled, an announcement will be made after 2:00 p.m. Please listen to local radio/television stations for ADULT EDUCATION / Evening Activity Cancellations. Discounts Senior Citizens (age 62 or older) are eligible for a discount on adult education classes. Senior citizens receive a 50 % discount on tuition for adult classes costing $50 or more. Prices -- Prices are subject to change. Please verify course cost when registering. GENERAL INFORMATION Age Requirements Adults must be 16 years of age or older to enroll in an Adult Education class. Those enrolled in an area high school must provide evidence of good standing from the high school. Check each class for enrollment criteria. The Youth Enrichment programs are designed for children ages 7-13. Withdrawals Withdrawals from classes must be completed before the first class for a full refund, less a $10.00 processing fee. Withdrawals must be made in person. Allow at least six weeks for any refunds. Additional Offerings Our intent is to serve our community. If you are interested in another course that is not offered, please contact the Adult Education Office. Your name will be placed in our interest file, and when we have sufficient interest, we will attempt to offer the course you have requested. Certificate A certificate of completion will be awarded to each student successfully completing the course requirements per satisfaction of the instructor. Manufacturing is central to America s economic strength and offers many jobs that are some of the best in the country. This course utilizes the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) curriculum and credentialing to cover the four critical production functions: Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Processes & Production and Maintenance Awareness. After successful completion of each of the four modules, students will take an assessment for certification. After passing all four modules and certification assessments, students obtain the designation of Certified Production Technician. This course is held in conjunction with the University of Cincinnati s East campus. CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE The Nurse Aide course is an approved training course by the Ohio Department of Health for nursing home aide training. Southern Hills CTC Basic Peace Officer Academy is an OPOTA Certified Course held in conjunction with Warren County Career Center. Classes are held at Southern Hills CTC. Topics covered in training include: Interview & Interrogation Techniques, Physical Conditioning, Laws of Arrest, Defensive & Pursuit Driving, Evidence Collection Techniques, Crime Scene Searches, Traffic Crash Investigation, Search & Seizure, Crisis Intervention, Firearms, and many more. Students must be at least 21 years old (by course completion), a high school Graduate or equivalent (GED), free of any felony/violent crime convictions and have a valid Ohio driver s license. During June, the halls of Southern Hills CTC are bustling with activity! The Adult Education Department offers several classes to keep your children or grandchildren busy! Whether it is Carpentry, Cooking Fun, Model Rockets, Creative Science or Lego Robotics, there is a class for everyone. Children have fun during these interactive classes while also learning.
