Sun will not be responsible or liable for any actual or alleged damage or loss caused by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any such content, goods, or services that are available on or through such sites or resources. Co-operative Support Program To ensure compatibility of Veritas products on Sun platforms, Sun and Veritas perform significant joint testing. However, Sun does not provide front-line support for Veritas products that are not on the Sun price list. In an effort to make sure all joint customer support issues are resolved efficiently, Sun and Veritas have implemented the Co-operative Support model under the SunVIP SM program. Under this program, customers who hold a SunSpectrum GOLD SM, a SunSpectrum PLATINUM SM, or a Sun Software Support Services Premium contract with Sun and a support contract with Veritas can engage either company to initiate a support case. Sun and Veritas will work with each other as appropriate to solve potential interoperabillity issues. Veritas Product Licensing Storage Foundation 5.0 license keys are available on the Veritas Proof of License Certificate. Registration with the Sun License Center is not required. Instructions on how to activate a license key are included in the Storage Foundation 5.0 Installation Guide. Prior to 4.1, the license keys for VERITAS Volume Manager, File System, and Storage Foundation were based on a node-locked licensing scheme. With 4.1 and later, the license keys are no longer based on a node-locked licensing scheme. The following products are affected: Veritas Storage Foundation Veritas Storage Foundation for Databases Veritas FlashSnap Veritas Volume Manager (including Cluster Volume Manager) 2 Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0 Software for SPARC Release Note Supplement July 2006

Veritas File System Node locking ties a single license to a single specific server. For each new server, the customer needs a new key. With the new licensing scheme, one key can unlock a product on different servers regardless of Host ID. However, you may install the software only on the number and tier level of computer systems for which you are entitled. Use of the software is subject to the terms and restrictions of the applicable Veritas or Sun License Agreement. Note For additional information about license keys that are not node-locked, contact your Sun representative. Known Bugs and Issues The following issues have been identified in the Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0 software. During Boot, Diskgroup Not Imported By Default Bug 6435576 - During booting, the system stops during the fsck process and asks for manual fsck. You must manually import the diskgroup at this point. If you do not manually import the diskgroup, the file system is not mounted and the system will not boot in multi-user mode. Root Encapsulation From VEA Fails Bug 6438009 - If you use the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) to do root encapsulation, the operation fails. Workaround - Use the CLI command vxdiskadm to perform root encapsulation. Using VEA to Remove Last Disk in a Diskgroup Results in a Misleading Error Message Bug 6431289 - If you use the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) to add disks to a diskgroup, and then remove all the disks from that group, the system returns the following error message when you attempt to remove the last disk: Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0 Software for SPARC Release Note Supplement 3

## VEA error Error V-39-49408-40 Disk is already in free disk pool Failed to execute the operation Do you want to override array policies? Although this message seems to indicate that the remove-disk operation has failed, if you select Cancel to close the Remove Disk window, the system successfully removes the disk from the diskgroup. If you use the CLI to try to remove the last disk from the diskgroup, however, the operation does fail and returns the following accurate error message: ## d18c-root@[/]>vxdg -g 3510 rmdisk 351001 VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-10127 disassociating >disk-media 351001: Cannot remove last disk in disk group Note For other known issues, please refer to the Veritas Storage Foundation documentation. 4 Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0 Software for SPARC Release Note Supplement July 2006
