Step 2: Submitting the Master Thesis Formal Criteria Title Page The title page of the Master s Thesis must include: Name of the student Title of the Master s Thesis (subtitle if available) Master s Thesis The academic degree you will receive Master of Science Your field of study/studies International Management The name of the University Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt The name of the Faculty Faculty of Management and Economics The name of the supervisor The name of the department Month/Year PLEASE NOTE: You can find sample title pages (finance/accounting, entrepreneurship and innovation management and international marketing), on the next three slides.

Step 2: Submitting the Master Thesis Declaration of honour Submit a signed declaration (affidavit) of honor with your Master s Thesis! It should follow immediately after the cover page. Download affidavit via: http://www.uniklu.ac.at/studabt/downloads/affidavit.pdf
Step 2: Submitting the Master Thesis Submission of the Master s Thesis 1. Online submission: Upload a (.pdf) file of your Master s Thesis via the student portal (section wiss. Arbeiten [scientific work]); as soon as the submission is complete, your thesis can neither be changed, nor withdrawn; when uploaded, your thesis will be checked for plagiarism with the AAU s DocoL c software. 2. Submission in hard copy: Within 7 days after submitting your thesis in electronic form, you must submit two hardcover copies (book form) at the Administration Office; it is very important to meet this deadline, otherwise the whole procedure has to be repeated. 3. Evaluation and Assessment: As soon the plagiarism check is done and the thesis received the label no plagiarism, your supervisor will write your assessment and forward it to the Admissions Office. Please note that the supervisor has the right to give you a grade within two months. As soon as your thesis receives the status assessed- Beurteilt, you can download your assessment in your study portal.
Step 3: Registration for the final examination Registration for Final Exam 1. Registration for the Final Examination: After your Master s Thesis has been positively graded and your electronic examination-book (epb) approved, you can register for the final examination via the student portal. Please note that you have to register at least 3 weeks before the exam date! (further details see separate slide) 2. Examination date: Every year, there are four regular examination dates. Usually in November, January, May/June and September. November 2015 till 01. January 2016 22. January 2016
Step 3: Registration for the final examination Applications for the admisson to the oral Master s examination are only possible ONLINE. In order to apply, please (1) log into your student account, (2) go to Meine Anträge = My Applications and click on Antrag zur studienabschließenden Prüfung = Application for the Final Examination. The online portal allows you to change the language, so you sould be able to navigate around and fill in the application Your online-application is ONLY (!!) possible if you fulfill all requirements and conditions for the registration: an approved electronic examination-book by the study programme director (Studienprogrammleiter) and a positive assessment of your Master s Thesis (incl. a written assessment certificate = Gutachten). PLEASE NOTE that your application has to be submitted at least three weeks before the intended examination date! This deadline is obligatory as mentioned in the statutes ( Satzung ) of the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt
Step 4: Final Examination Important Your final examination will cover two subjects. You will receive a grade on each of them: 1st subject: The subject which the Master s Thesis has been assigned to (i.e. International Marketing, Thesis topic: Consumer Behaviour) 2nd subject: A subject of your choice according to 5 Para. 2, that has not been assigned to the Master s thesis: (c) International Marketing, (d) International Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management or (e) International Financial Management; (i.e. in the upper case: International Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management OR International Financial Management) For each subject an examiner is needed. The first examiner is usually your thesis supervisor, the second examiner covers the subject you have chosen. If somebody fails at the final exam at the first attempt (in both subjects or in one of the subjects) they are allowed to repeat it at a regular date. If you have signed out of an exam or if you do not show up this will not have an affect on your grade. If you have registered for an exam date and are not able to make it on this date, you have to sign out/ inform us in advance. You have to inform your examiners or the Rectorate for Studies at least one day before the exam! If you do not show up for the exam unexcused, the Committee has the right to set a retention period of 8 weeks during which you will not be allowed to repeat the exam

Step 5: Graduation Diploma You can pick up your final documents in person after you have received an email from the admissions office. This email will state that you can now collect your certificate (in person!!!) at the administration office. Usually this is a few weeks after the final exam, as the certificate has first to be issued and signed etc. For further information, visit: http://www.uni-klu.ac.at/studabt/inhalt/3370.htm On the website of the administration office, it is stated that you have to complete the following survey in order to receive your certificate: https://www.statistik.at/ustat2/ - in order to prevent delays, we advise you to do so before you pick up your exam. PLEASE NOTE: If you are not able to pick up your certificate in person, for example because you are not in Austria any more, please contact Ms. Renate Knauder (Renate.Knauder@aau.at).
Step 5: Registration for the graduation ceremony After passing your final examination, you can register for the official Degree Ceremony with your student account. Log in, go to the tab Meine Anträge and select Anmeldung zur Akademischen Abschlussfeier. Further information and dates (and application deadlines) for the next ceremony can be found here: http://www.uni-klu.ac.at/studienrektorat/inhalt/808.htm Please note that you DO NOT have to take part in the Degree Ceremony: You can either a) only pick up your official Master s Degree documents in the administration office b) opt to buy and pick up the graduation document (this is a larger, nicer version of the graduation certificate) in the official Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt roll (contains the certificate) in the administration office, OR c) take part in the official graduation ceremony (you can do so up until one year after your graduation) and receive your certificate and roll during the formal ceremony. In both, option b) and c), you will have to pay a fee (about 40 ) for the document and the roll that holds it.
