ABOUT EMC HISTORY 25 Years of Industry Experience Owned by ABRY Partners Headquartered in Miami, FL Focus on Emerging Markets End-to-End Communications Services EXPERIENCE Started by relationship with United Nations. Paved the way for Licensing in 140 Countries 90% of Employees are Located in Emerging Markets Experience with everyone from small, private energy to Oil & Gas supermajors SERVICES Fully Managed and Owned Infrastructure and Services. ISO 9001 Certified Over 35 Field Support Centers Worldwide 19 Teleports 2 GHz+ of satellite capacity Own /operate largest teleport in Europe- Raisting, Germany

OIL & GAS SATELLITE NETWORKS Current Status: Large links (4 Mbps +): Based on SCPC links Mostly C-band Better reliability than Ku-band Global Coverage Small links (up to 512 Kbps): Varies between SCPC, TDMA and L-Band Ku-Band and L-band Typically non-critical links for the business

OIL & GAS SATELLITE NETWORKS Challenges to Current Networks: SCPC is not efficient in terms of bandwidth, flexibility, mobility Unsecured links Difficult to obtain same level of service onshore and offshore (Intranet, Internet, VoIP, Telepresence ) Lack of monitoring and management of bandwidth utilization C-band is typically more expensive than Ku-band

EMC s FOCUS EMC s Focus: OPTIMIZATION and FLEXIBILITY Our business model supports collaboration with satellite operators and our customers to develop products that help solve their concerns over bandwidth usage and maximize their network infrastructure investment

SOLUTIONS Bandwidth optimization 40%-60% of the time the full link is not being used Share the bandwidth between network nodes! Inefficient consumption of MHz Why should we consume more MHz when we can transmit our outbound in the same band we have our inbounds? Reuse the satellite spectrum! Current TCP/IP protocols are not optimally designed for use in a satellite environment Let s change the protocols!

SOLUTIONS Service improvements Big links with global coverage are required Achieve this without changing the equipment each time a different service/coverage is required Secure communication is mandatory Secure the links without sacrificing the efficiency! Desire to improve bandwidth consumption, but inability to monitor what is happening on the links Provide the tools to monitor the satellite network historically and real-time C-band availability but the antennas and the bandwidth are more expensive than other bands Rely on a technology that provides same availability on Ku-band than on C-band and a provider that can provide you better prices

HOW CAN WE DO THAT TODAY?

BANDWIDTH OPTIMIZATION EMC SatLink Technology - Based on open standards (DVB-S2/DVB-RCS2): MF-TDMA system allows nodes to share unused bandwidth with other nodes Thanks to ACM (Adaptive Coding and Modulation) links are adapted in real-time to the environment conditions, like weather or satellite coverage: o Maximize bandwidth efficiency o Maximize link availability

SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS EMC SatLink Technology Provides global coverage in Ku and C-band Provides flexibility to change services or coverage Without new equipment or investment Communications secured using commercial TRANSEC natively AES-256 is the industry leading strong encryption VSATs can be upgraded for encryption via software licensing (no extra hardware) No interference with acceleration, QoS, Compression, Cache, etc. Does not reduce bandwidth efficiency Can also be used with end-to-end VPN solutions for added security No interference with collection and monitoring of network performance and traffic load data by the Network Management System.

GLOBAL SATELLITE COVERAGE C-Band Coverage Ku-Band Coverage

BANDWIDTH OPTIMIZATION Noise Reduction System (NRS) Enables an average of 30% and up to 50% savings in satellite MHz by using its state-of-the-art carrier cancellation capability to save inbound MHz by cancelling the outbound carrier/s Allows satellite links to transmit and receive in same frequency

BANDWIDTH OPTIMIZATION EMC SpeedNet Web Browser Allows EMC to deliver the fastest internet experience available SaaS cloud browser Superior performance in all latency conditions from 50 msec to 850 msec. Drastic speed improvement with a guaranteed 100 Mbps download speed Secure access for public and private cloud services

BANDWIDTH OPTIMIZATION EMC HD Connect - Provides a high quality video/telepresence experience for both oneto-one (unicast) sessions and one-to-many (multicast) sessions. - HD Connect links are rapidly established and torn down on demand, eliminating the need for costly dedicated SCPC circuits. - On Demand satellite technology that allows you to communicate using HD Video anywhere, anytime. - Jitter minimized, latency effect minimized and 0% packet loss guaranteed.

SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS Advanced monitoring Orion : Simplifies detection, diagnosis, & resolution of network issues before outages occur Shows performance statistics in real time Includes out-of-the-box dashboards, alerts, reports & guidance

SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS Advanced monitoring WebNMS : Fully monitor the network at all times Monitor and control usage, alarms, signal strength and more Available via web interface accessible through https
