High School Physical Science and Middle School 8th Grade Science teachers Physical Science and 8th grade Science teachers MS teachers teaching chemistry and physics topics for the first time will get a chance to interact with experienced chemistry and physics teachers. They will also be able to make connections with teachers in the HS should they need content support. HS teachers will become more aware of the 8 th grade experience that should help support the transition of students to a high school science class. Districtwide CST Child Study Team 1) To increase knowledge level of the use of Excel in Google Docs. 2) To review draft of Suicidal Ideation Protocol and finalize document. 3) To develop a formula for CST use in determining discrepancy when considering if a child is eligible under the category- Specific Learning Disability. 4) To increase knowledge level of a community- based counseling resource, Imagine, by visiting their site in Westfield. Speech Specialists Speech Team 1) The advent of the Common Core Standards (CCS) presents an opportunity for SLPs to engage in guided collaboration with teachers. We will learn the SLP s role in unpacking the CCS through chunking, pacing, and sequencing. Two tools for collaboration that assist the SLP within the framework of CCS are presented: Socratic questioning and Bloom s Wheel. These methods encourage SLPs and Teachers to gear their educational planning towards higher order thinking skills, which is one of the main goals of CCS. 2) An overview of the Communication portion of the Battelle Developmental Inventory will be discussed. Therapists will learn and practice test administration, and manual and online scoring. 3) We will discuss TBI/concussions and how students are: impacted during an evaluation conducted by the CST, frequent difficulties they might encounter in the school environment, and treatment strategies that can be implemented (in the ideal world). 4) Establish department and individual PIP goals. 5)Expand understanding of Selective Mutism, a social anxiety disorder.
