BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) BVGH works to engage the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry in global health R&D Connecting innovators with critical information and resources for R&D Identifying needs and facilitating collaboration to accelerate neglected tropical disease product development
What is WIPO Re:Search? Led by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) and its Members. The Consortium includes a number of the world s leading pharmaceutical companies, academic and nonprofit research institutions, governmental, and non governmental organizations. Makes intellectual property, know how and other resources available to Member researchers working in neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Facilitates collaboration to develop new drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics

GSK University of Washington Collaboration Screening of preclinical candidates against malaria Brief Background: BVGH met with researchers at the University of Washington (UW) to gain an understanding of research programs and partnership needs. A researcher expressed interest in working with a pharmaceutical partner who could characterize and provide insights into development of UW compounds. UW professor was introduced to scientists at GSK. GSK s Tres Cantos Open Lab will re profile University of Washington compounds (Calcium dependent protein kinase inhibitors) for the ability to block the transmission of malaria using their assay systems. Current Status: Agreement to allow sharing of confidential information and transfer of compounds is in place.
Signed Agreements through WIPO Re:Search for Malaria Research Sharing of preclinical compound libraries for malaria drug discovery Sharing of cysteine protease inhibitors Sharing of calcium channel blockers Sharing of proteasome inhibitors Research collaboration around multi kinase inhibitors in malaria Screening preclinical candidates against malaria
