Following the Installation of the Application Before you begin using the Kofax Document Exchange Server application on the network scanner, note the following procedures and information. Manually Adding the Network Scanner for Kofax Document Exchange Server Once you have installed the Kofax Document Exchange Server application on the network scanner, manually add the network scanner as a device in Kofax Administration Console. For instructions, see the Kofax Administration Console Help. Add the device with the IP address, the MAC address, the device model (Fujitsu fi-6000ns or Fujitsu fi-6010n), and the host name for the network scanner. When Deploying Profiles If the network scanner is not on when profiles are deployed in Kofax Administration Console, the deployment occurs as soon as the network scanner is turned on again, when the network scanner polls Kofax Document Exchange Server for deployed profiles. You may observe a delay in the shortcuts appearing on the Kofax Main Menu. It may take several seconds for the shortcuts to appear following the deployment of profiles. Starting the Kofax Document Exchange Server Application The first time you start the application on the touch panel of the network scanner, you need to specify the server on which Kofax Document Exchange Server is located. To do so, have the server name or IP address ready. This information does not need to be specified again, unless the information changes. To start the Kofax Document Exchange Server application 1 On the touch panel of the network scanner, enter the user name and password to log onto the network scanner as a user. 2 On the network scanner Main Menu, press Kofax DES. 4 Kofax, Inc.

The network scanner is restarted automatically when the application is removed. Frequently Asked Questions If the buttons on the touch panel do not deploy successfully, or if you have questions about how the software operates, refer to the information in this section. You can find additional information and software updates on the Kofax Web site. Clicking Discover does not find the network scanner. What happened? Because automatic discovery of Fujitsu network scanners on the network is not yet available, you need to add the network scanner manually. For instructions, refer to the Kofax Administration Console Help. Why am I unable to add network scanners? There may not be enough available licenses to support the network scanners you want to add. Remove network scanners from the DES Devices tab or purchase a license that supports additional devices. Why am I unable to send documents to a destination from the network scanner? For global shortcuts, make sure that you have established credentials with the destination type in Kofax Administration Console. Documents may also fail to be sent if the data that was entered in the index fields is invalid. Make sure that you have entered information for all required index fields and that all information is correct. How long does it take for shortcuts to be deployed on the network scanner? The shortcuts should display shortly after you deploy the profile from Kofax Administration Console. There may be a short delay depending on network traffic and the frequency that the Kofax, Inc. 7

network scanner refreshes. If the shortcuts do not display after a long period, make sure that the network scanner is connected to the network. Why do I get a connection error when deploying profiles? Make sure the network scanner is turned on and verify network communication (for example, ping the network scanner).
