What Types of Nursing Programs Do We Offer? Practical Nursing Certificate 1 year Program: prepares you to sit for NCLEX PN (State Boards) For students who do NOT have an LPN license Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing 1 year Program: prepares you to sit for NCLEX RN (State Boards) For students who are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) Recommend meeting with your Advisor We do NOT offer a 2 year traditional RN Program 2

How to be Admitted to SCC Submit an application to the College Application fee - $27 Recommended curriculum: Health Science Submit official transcripts from High School and College Register to take the ACCUPLACER placement test or provide proof of exemption such as; SAT scores (Math: 530; Critical Reading: 540), High School GPA of 3.0 or higher (within the last 5 years) or proof of previous college placement testing from another college Submit proof of immunization for measles, mumps and rubella (if born after 1957), per New Jersey law (NJAC 9:2-14), and Hepatitis B, per New Jersey statute (18A:61 D-9). Immunization information is sent to all new students from the Office of Enrollment and Transition Services 6

ATI TEAS V Useful Information What does the TEAS test stand for? Test of Essential Academic Skills What is the format of the ATI TEAS V Test? It is a computerized test that takes a maximum of 209 minutes and includes 150 scored multiple-choice questions divided into: Reading Paragraph and Passage Comprehension, and Informational Source Comprehension Math Numbers and Operations, Algebraic Applications, Data Interpretation, and Measurement Science Human Body Science, Life Science, Earth and Physical Science, Scientific Reasoning English and Language Usage Grammar and Word Meanings in Context, Spelling and Punctuation, Structure Study Guides and Practice can be purchased at SCC s bookstore or ATI Website: www.atitesting.com 7

ATI TEAS V Questions and Answers How much does the ATI Exam cost? - $60 Where do I go to pay for the exam? - ATI s website Where and when can I take the ATI Exam? - At SCC, starting January 2014 Must the exam be taken at SCC? - Yes How long are the scores valid? - 2 years What will I be tested on? - Reading, Math, Science, English and Language usage How long will the test take? - It is a computerized test that takes a maximum of 209 minutes and includes 150 scored multiple-choice questions Is there a study guide? - Yes, available at SCC s Bookstore or online same $$ How many times may I take the ATI exam? Twice Is there a waiting period between test dates? Yes, 45 days Should I retake the exam to get a higher score? Yes, if you think you 8 can increase your score - There is no penalty for retesting

How does the Admission Process Work? Admission is selective and based on your rubric score and/or the SCC ATI TEAS V scores The ATI TEAS V is included as part of the rubric score PN - Scoring Criteria - ATI TEAS V 86 or above = 5 points 71-85 = 4 points 58-70 = 3 points ADN - Scoring Criteria - ATI TEAS V 90 or above = 5 points 89-80 = 4 points 79-70 = 3 points You must earn a C+ or higher in ALL courses in the Nursing Program 9 C s are accepted for the Health Science degree

ADN Rubric Class: Grade: Points: BIO 220 Anatomy & Physiology I A/A- 5 pts BIO 221 Anatomy & Physiology II B+/B/B- 3 pts ENG 101 English Composition I C+ 1 pt NOTE: Only BIO 220, 221 and ENG 101 may receive up to 5 points CHM 101 College Chemistry I ECO 201 Macroeconomics HSC 168 Nutrition MAT 134 Contemporary Mathematics 3 pts 2 pts 2 pts 2 pts A point is deducted each time BIO 220, BIO 221 and ENG 101 are retaken. Only grades of C+ or higher count. Exception: students with a C+ or higher who repeat a class due to 5-year limit will not have points deducted. Courses and grades must be on an official college transcript in order to be 11 counted on the rubric.
