July 2013 Page 2 Your Investment Choices You have total flexibility to choose your own investments that best match your personal retirement strategy and goals. You can choose from over 35 investment options and tailor a strategy that best suits you. Like most super funds if you don t make a choice, the fund will manage your investments. If you don t choose your own investments, your super will be invested in the FirstChoice Lifestage investment option. Understanding how to invest your super is very important. Superannuation fund members are investors and as an investor, there are 3 core principles you should consider. These are: 1. Understanding your investment time horizon; 2. Understanding the advantages of investing regularly; and 3. Understanding Risk and the importance of Diversification. Generally speaking the longer your time horizon to retirement i.e. the length of time before you access your super, the more time you have in which to invest in Growth assets, such as shares and Property Securities that may provide significantly higher investment returns over the long term. That is why under the Lifestage investment option, the fund will automatically allocate your super across both Growth and Defensive assets and as you steadily move towards retirement, the fund will reduce the level of investment risk by allocating your super to more defensive assets. Further details on investments can be obtained by reading through the FirstChoice Employer Super Product Disclosure Statement (PDS.) The PDS can be obtained by contacting Colonial First State on 1300 654 666. Benefits of Insurance Cover Insurance cover is a valuable benefit that at times can be overlooked. It provides protection for you and your family in the event of an unforeseen event such as disability or death. It gives you peace of mind that you are covered 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year in or out of work and wherever you are in the world. Under the corporate super plan, members will receive generous insurance cover without the hassle of having to undergo medical exams or tests, provided you join the plan when you are first eligible, that being at commence of employment. Permanent and Part Time staff working more than 15 hours per week will receive the following insurances when they join the plan. Type of Insurance Cover What is it? Who is it for? Life (Death) cover Helps protect your family if you die prematurely. Provides a lump sum that can help pay off debts or to pay an income to your beneficiaries. Families, Dependants and Estates Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) cover Salary Continuance cover Protects you from the financial consequences of being totally and permanently disabled. The lump sum should help you pay medical bills, rehabilitation costs, cover debts or to provide an income to your family. Provides a regular income when you are unable to work because of illness or injury. Individual, Families and Dependants Individual and Families

July 2013 Page 3 Benefits of Insurance Cover continued... Members will have a choice of 3 levels of Death and TPD Cover. Each option is defined by a different multiple of your annual salary. The 3 options are: Option 1-5 x Salary Option 2-6 x Salary* Option 3-7 x Salary * You receive Option 2 automatically when you first join the fund. You also have the option to choose either one of the two other options within 30 days of receiving your membership Welcome Kit. Example: Member has an annual salary of $50,000 pa. Option 2 is calculated as 6 x 50,000 = $300,000 Benefit payable = $300,000 plus the member s account balance On joining the plan members will also receive Salary Continuance Insurance (SCI) cover. In the event that a member is unable to work due to disability, a claim for salary continuance benefits can be made to the trustee. If the benefit claim is accepted, a monthly income benefit of 75% of salary is payable. The benefit is paid for up to 2 years after an initial waiting period of 30 days. Example: Member has an annual salary of $50,000 Monthly benefit = 75% of $50,000 Benefit payable = $3,125 per month (gross of income tax) These days it s difficult to get insurance cover unless you re healthy and well, and the last thing you want to do is jump through hoops to get it. If you join the plan when you re first eligible (i.e. when you first commence employment), your insurance cover will be accepted up to the plan s Automatic Acceptance Limit of $1.5m for Death and TPD and $12,000 per month for Salary Continuance. Please remember that you have total flexibility to change your insurance cover at any time. The premiums for Death, TPD and SCI cover are deducted from your super account on a monthly basis. Premiums will vary depending upon a variety of factors such as: Your age next birthday, Gender, Occupation; and Your annual salary If you would like to know the cost of your insurance cover, please contact Colonial First State on 1300 654 666, or our corporate advisors Verum Financial Partners on 1800 284 706.
