Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HND Diploma These Diplomas may be awarded with Merit or 3.8 European Awards Any of the Academic Awards listed under 3.1 to 3.4 may be endorsed as European under the procedures described in the Quality and Academic Standards Handbook. 3.9 Posthumous and Aegrotat Awards 3.9.1 All awards may be made posthumously. 3.9.2 All awards may be awarded as an Aegrotat. 3.9.3 Aegrotat awards, whether awarded posthumously or not, do not carry Merit, Distinction or Honours Classification, even if awarded with Honours. 3.10 New Awards 3.10.1 New awards must be submitted for approval by the Academic Board. Courses being presented for approval that propose new award designations must have the prior approval of the Academic Board. 3.10.2 The Academic Board may approve particular variant titles and abbreviations for restricted use on specific courses without this requiring that they become generally available; such variants shall not normally require separate definition provided the criteria are defined in the relevant course definitive documents.
