Directions for Examiners Directions for Examiners Administering the Secure Practice TeST The directions in this manual should be used to administer the Georgia Milestones End-of-Course (EOC) Secure Practice Test. The purpose of the Secure Practice Test is to familiarize students with the testing software and the correct procedure for answering questions and moving through the test. A practice test is available for each EOC assessment. Practice tests can be administered multiple times. During the practice test, circulate around the room to confirm that students are recording their answers correctly and navigating the software interface effectively. Follow the scripts provided in this manual for administering the Secure Practice Test. Read word for word the instructions that are printed in bold type and preceded by the word Say. You may repeat any part of these directions as many times as needed, but you should not modify the words used. There are no special scripts to read for accommodated students. Other instructions (printed in italics) are provided for you only and should not be read to the students. If there are any accommodated students who will be taking the Secure Practice Test, be sure each student is permitted to take the practice test with the correct set of accommodations. Allow the student to practice as long as necessary to become comfortable with the accommodations in place. If you reset a student s accommodations after a practice session, make sure the student retakes that practice test with the correct set of accommodations before taking the Secure Practice Test. Use your professional judgment in responding to student questions during the test administration. You may clarify directions; however, under no circumstances should you reword test items, suggest answers, or evaluate student work during the test. For the Secure Practice Test in Mathematics, Physical Science, and Economics/ Business/Free Enterprise, students should be given at least two sheets of blank scratch paper and two sharpened pencils. Students must print their names in the upper-right corner of each sheet of scratch paper they receive. Students may ask for more scratch paper during the test administration, if necessary. All scratch paper must be accounted for and returned to the School Test Coordinator with the other test materials. All applicable test security procedures, outlined in the Test Security section on page 34 of this manual, must be followed during the Secure Practice Test administration. Test Tickets On the day the practice test is to be administered, the School Test Coordinator should provide the Examiner with a Summary Test Ticket (identifying the test session and providing the Test Access Code) and Individual Test Tickets for all students scheduled to take part in the practice test session. These are secure materials and must be delivered immediately before and returned immediately after the practice test administration. Illustrations of both a Summary Test Ticket and an Individual Test Ticket are provided on pages 15 16 of the End-of-Course Online Examiner s Manual. Test Security Test Security The security of the EOC assessments must be maintained before, during, and after each test administration. System and School Test Coordinators and Examiners must follow the procedures listed below to ensure the security and integrity of the tests. All school system personnel are prohibited from reviewing the contents of the EOC assessments. All EOC assessments must be administered by a Georgia-certified educator. Examiners are directly responsible for the security of test materials and must account for all materials while in the Examiner s custody. The testing environment should be designed, and maintained, to minimize the potential for cheating. Any sign of cheating must be handled immediately. Contact the School Test Coordinator if you have any questions or if cheating or security violations are suspected. Test materials must be kept secure at ALL times. While in the Examiner s custody, secure test materials must kept in a locked storage area when not being used for actual administration to students. During test administration, materials and students must be supervised at all times. Students are to be instructed to sign their Individual Test Tickets. The use, or intended use, of an electronic device to photograph, post, retain, or share information/images from any portion of a secure test and/or answer document will result in invalidation. Examiners must account for all test materials before dismissing students from the testing room. At the conclusion of each test session, Examiners are responsible for immediately returning all test materials to the School Test Coordinator. For EOC assessments that allow hand-held calculator use, it is required that and Examiners confirm prior to testing and immediately after testing, before dismissing students, that all calculators are cleared of any stored text. A failure to confirm that text is cleared may raise school-wide (and possibly system-wide) security concerns. A failure to take these steps constitutes an irregularity that must be reported to GaDOE. Should it be confirmed that a student either brought information into a test setting through stored text, or left the test setting with secure test information stored on a device, the student s test will be invalidated. Such an event must be reported to GaDOE. Please note that should an emergency arise during testing, the Examiner should make sure that test materials are locked in the classroom and that students do not remove test materials from the test setting as they exit. ALL individuals who have the responsibility for handling the EOC assessments are accountable for all testing materials assigned to them before, during, and after the test administration. Any discrepancies should be documented and reported to the School Test Coordinator. Page 34 End-of-Course Online Practice Test Directions
