Learning and Development Programme We are pleased to share with you the HEPA programme of events for September 2015 to July 2016. We hope this brochure will be a useful reference tool to help you identify and plan the learning and development of both you and your team. If you know what you want to achieve but are unsure of how best to achieve it, please do give us a call and we ll do our best to guide and support you. If we can t help, we may well know someone who can, and will point you in the direction of others as appropriate. We have also increased our digital training provision this year with e-learning and webinars to minimise the cost and time associated with travelling. What is HEPA? HEPA is the support organisation for procurement professionals in UK Higher Education. It aims to improve the expertise and capacity of UK university procurement. It was established in response to the challenge set out in the 2011 Diamond Report, and is delivered collaboratively by BUFDG and the HE purchasing consortia. It provides face to face courses, e-learning and webinars, forums for networking, and an online repository of information encompassing best practice, benchmarking, templates, news, and more. LEGAL Transition Workshop EU Update on the Changes Delivered by Glenn Fletcher of Hellios this one day course is aimed at those new to the sector, as well as those who wish to build on their understanding of the 2015 Procurement Regulations. It covers, amongst other things, the background to the new directives, the Lord Young elements, Part B contracts, the use of appropriate procedures, the impact on contract management, and relevant case law. Clarifications on the Impact of Pubic Contract Regulations (PCRs) Webinar LEGAL Following the document we published earlier this year, and now that the new regs have had time to bed in, Mills and Reeve will deliver a 1-hour webinar addressing any confusing points or issues you may have been experiencing since February. CONTRACTING Selecting Suppliers and Awarding Contracts This one day course looks at the techniques and principles used in selecting suppliers and awarding contracts. Covering all aspects including using a PIN to stimulate interest, using standards and labels to ensure appropriate specifications are written, the use of auctions and DPS, award criteria, OJEU notices, and remedies. Writing a Tender Specification HEIs, along with all public contracting authorities, will need to update their tendering processes to accommodate the new UK Public Contracts Regulations. Practical Applications of new rules on Frameworks and Dynamic Purchasing Systems This one day course is aimed at procurement professionals subject to the new rules. It asks why understanding cost is so important, and looks at value chain analysis, as well as cost models in relation to supplier delivery. OTHER The Supplier s Perspective OTHER This one-day course, delivered by experienced professional trainer Andy Brown of NRI, aims to enable buyers to build better relationships with sellers through developing a greater understanding of the way sellers think. It will identify key drivers for sales people and explore some of the methods they use to influence, engage and persuade buyers. By the end of the day delegates will have explored models of psychology and belief cycles in order to gain a better understanding of the other party, to help them in their dealings and negotiations with suppliers. Cyber Security CIPS Online Course This online course, jointly-created by GCHQ, BIS, and CIPS, has been developed to help raise awareness of how employees and organisations can mitigate against cyber threats. It looks at the relevance of cybersecurity in the procurement and supply chain function and why it is so important for everyone connected to procurement to take this matter very seriously.
