GENERAL GUIDELINES The Management Institute of Canada (MIC) is an educational institution providing learning systems for programs in business and public administration. MIC has received an approval from the Ministry of "l'emploi et de la Solidaritee Sociale" - Emploi Quebec) to provide diploma and certificate programs for individuals and companies. MIC is also a member of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE), a European accreditation organization based in Switzerland with approximately 100 institutional members in Europe and elsewhere in the world. MIC offers on campus and online programs in management, business administration as well as public administration. All degrees are granted by the Delta International University of New Orleans (DIU) which has been licensed to operate by the Board of Regents of the State of Louisiana in the USA. DIU is a partner organization of MIC. International Partners: MIC offers both On Campus and Online (Distance Learning) programs. On campus programs are offered through MIC s network of partners in: Izmir (Turkey), Paris, (France), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Dakar (Senegal), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), as well as a number of other locations throughout the world. Other partners are in Helsinki (Finland), Cairo (Egypt), and Shanghai (China). Live Online Courses (Audio and Video) MIC professors deliver all of its MBA, MPA, BBA and certificate program courses in Montreal via Audio and Video Online Technology. In these lectures, students are able to interact with their professors on a live basis from wherever they are, at work or home. Our professors are also able to contact students on a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week (24/7) basis anywhere throughout the world. MIC courses are pre recorded and can be uploaded from the MIC Webpage. The same process is followed when uploading course materials. As well MIC provides continuous access to its Online Library and students are able, through the use of their password access all of the materials when and wherever they would like. Refund Policy MIC ensures that all tuition fees for a program or part of a program for the period for which a student has registered are promptly refunded to the student if: He or she gives written notice to the institution within two days after signing a registration agreement that he or she rescinds the agreement; or The program or part of a program, as the case may be, is discontinued before the first day. MIC ensures that all tuition fees for a program or part of a program for the period for which a student has registered, less an administrative fee mentioned above, are promptly refunded to the student if: He or she gives the institution written notice that he or she does not intend to begin the program or course, as the case may be; or He or she does not attend the first 10 consecutive days of the program or course, as the case may be. MIC ensures that all tuition fees for a program or part of a program for the period for which a student has registered, less an administrative fee mentioned above, are promptly refunded to the student if: He or she withdraws from a program or part of a program, as the case may be, before one-half of it has been completed; or The program or part of a program is discontinued or suspended for any reason. Method of Delivery BBA, MBA and MPA and all certification students will be exposed to a range of top quality online or on-campus academic resources. MIC will ensure that students gain the most from this enriching experience. The duration of both the MBA and MPA programs is a minimum of 16 months. The duration of the BBA programs is a minimum of 3 years and 4 months. Students wishing to prolong their academic studies may apply for an extension in order to accommodate their busy work schedules, family lives, etc. MBA and MPA students who are completing their degree online must complete 15 courses (45 credits), plus the Management Consulting course. Students who intend to pursue a further academic career may elect to take the Research Project option in place of the Management Consulting course MBA and MPA students who are completing their degree on campus must complete 15 courses, plus the Research Project option. All BBA students are required to complete 40 courses or 120 credits. All registered students from MIC and its partners are granted access to the MIC E-Learning System. The MIC E-Learning System Students are able to directly download course materials, recorded oral lectures and videos through the MIC E-Learning System. Each registered student is provided with a password to access this service. These materials may be downloaded at anytime and anywhere a student may wish. Students are requested to participate in ALL live and online lectures. In addition, challenging discussions related to each course are regularly organized by the professors. Each student s password is provided for personal academic use ONLY and is not to be given to any other individual at any time. MIC on campus programs MIC on campus programs are specifically tailored to each individual campus. For further information, please consult the handbook provided by the Dean. How we deliver our online programs Students will generally be guided by their program director and local lecturers, but can at any time, contact MIC directly by phone or e-mail. Students are expected to study all seminars given by their professors. Students are responsible for submitting individual assignments. Students will have ongoing academic guidance and feedback from their professors. A new subject with a new professor will be offered every month for the MBA and MPA and every 2 months for the BBA and certification program. MIC professors will maintain direct and constant contact with students by e-mail in order to monitor their progress. Students can contact MIC professors at any time (24 hours per day, 7 days per week) concerning course materials and other related issues. Therefore, students should monitor their e-mails regularly. All courses are provided by MIC and recorded on the MIC E-Learning system. This means that students do not need to purchase any course materials except for textbooks. Local lecturers are requested to follow lectures provided by MIC professors, and to also prepare local case studies for students. MIC materials are available only to registered students. Announcements are posted on the MIC E-Learning system, keeping you informed and up-to-date on events and activities related to the courses. Examinations: All courses will end with a final examination or similar equivalency as required by the class professor. Final examinations will be organized under the supervision of MIC professors. For MIC partners, students should be guided by local professors. Students are required to abide by a strict set of rules by completing the final examinations on time, as prescribed by the professors. Late assignments will NOT be accepted. Once registered, students will fall under the MIC Disciplinary Committee s Set of Internal Regulations, called the MIC Code of Conduct. Library Resources Students enrolled in any degree program offered by an MIC campus presently have access to our online library system. This system consists of electronic library resources (online books and journals) in addition to online periodical databases. An on campus library is planned for the future as enrollments reach a level to create the need. Presently, MIC is an online institution only, but we foresee this to change in the future. Online resources however are available to all students regardless of location allowing them access to continual live audio-video courses on a 24/7 basis.
