PCLaw V10 Upgrader s Database Your PCLaw V10 key codes are generated for a specific database. LexisNexis will give you a code for C-Tree database if you are currently using C-Tree or SQL if you are currently using SQL. If you see a choice appear during installation allowing you to select between Standard or Enterprise. Standard means C-Tree and Enterprise means SQL Express or SQL. Safe Custody & Closed File Ensure accurate tracking of your physical clients assets such as wills, deeds, bonds, etc., as well as closed file information Packets This is the container that stores a number of individual records within it. Once the packet is full or no longer needed it will be shipped off site or to a supplementary storage area Records These are individual valuables or documents that are for safe keeping, each record will be stored in a packed and filed away. Records can be moved from one packet to another depending on the needs of the law firm.
Time Entry Ranking The new time entry ranking feature allows you to organize existing time entries into a logical sequence so they are displayed in the order you choose. Assists correcting discrepancies in the way time was entered into PCLaw to make it easier for client s to understand their invoices.
Time tracking in minutes With the new setting in System settings this allows for the ability to track time actual minutes instead of points of an hour.
Trust retainer threshold Additional trust replenishment reminders when trust t balances drop below three threshold levels specified in Matter Manager: Minimum The amount required, at minimum, to retain in trust. Preferred The amount you would prefer to maintain in trust. Maximum The amount you do not want to exceed. In addition to the minimum retainer amount in trust set on the Billing tab of Matter Manager, you have the ability to configure multiple thresholds, including Minimum, i Preferred, and Maximum.
Rate exceptions Expanded rate exceptions now include exceptions at the matter level based on explanation codes for greater billing flexibility per client
Improved courtesy discounting i at billing Allows you to configure how fee adjustments or discounts should be applied to matters belonging to individual clients Specific Matter All fee changes or discount are assigned to a specific matter. Prorated All fee changes are prorated for all matters for that t client based on billing amounts. Manual Allocation you specify how to divide the allocations for the matters belonging to the client.

Edit and refresh the Pre Bill You now have the ability to refresh the Pre-Bill without leaving the initial screen output. Previously in PCLaw, after a pre-bill is processed, you can drill- down on any of the entries and make an adjustment, but you had to re-run the pre-bill in order to see the changes. Now you can click the Refresh button on the toolbar to have PCLaw reload the pre-bill with the original settings.
Grid Font Overrides You can now override the default fonts used on the grid screens (all data entry screens including Time and Fee entry, Expense Recovery, Trust and General Checks and receipts, just to name a few) in PCLaw and set them to whatever font is desired, in previous version this was all controlled by the windows fonts. This setting is now independent of the windows font and will only affect the grids within PCLaw.
Pay off Previous Balances from Trust at the time of billing You can chose to include all existing A/R balances in the trust transfer process when performed at the time of billing. Select the option Apply Trust Transfer to Existing Invoices on the Billing tab of Matter Manager to affect a specific matter or apply to all matters using the Global Change feature.
You now have the ability to create a G/L Adjustment to the G/L account of a general bank and have PCLaw automatically post your entry to the General Bank Journal. The entry appears everywhere a check or receipt appears including the Register and Bank Reconciliation features. Select the check box Show Journal Entry on Bank Journal on the G/L Adjustment window. GL Adjustments to bank accounts
