Architecture & Design ProfileUnity FlexApp leverages existing Windows desktop infrastructure and network storage to provide: Profile portability, access to user-authored data, context-aware configuration, and delivery of user installed applications for non-persistent VMware Horizon View desktops. There are no dedicated SQL or IIS servers needed. The solution can be installed in less than one hour. Figure 2: ProfileUnity FlexApp Architecture 3
Validation Result Using ProfileUnity s Guided Configuration Wizard, your VMware Horizon Mobile Secure Workplace desktops, and any other Windows desktop that is applied, will experience the following: Profile Portability VMware users will have a follow-me persona that is dynamically applied at every login in a Windows 7/8 format or a Windows XP format. Users can co-exist physical and VMware Horizon View desktop personas and even log in simultaneously to more than one Windows session with the same profile. User-Authored Data Migration If ProfileUnity with FlexApp is first installed to a legacy desktop environment, it will harvest user-authored data from key folders, including My Documents and the users Desktop. FlexApp If this option is chosen at setup, the user will have the ability to install their own applications in non-persistent Horizon View environments. Applications are saved to a VHD or a VMware Persistent Disk and follow the user at subsequent logons. Figure 3: ProfileUnity Installation and Configuration Wizard 4
