Open House for New MMA Cadets About Our School Military Magnet Academy (MMA) prepares cadets to become academically competent, disciplined, and responsible citizens. In addition to offering rigorous coursework for young men and women, the school applies a military environment that teaches students the importance of civic duty. MMA is the first of its kind in the nation, and is located off Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. It opened in 1997 as a school for students in grades 6 to 8. The magnet school now serves students in grades 6 to 12. In 2009, substantial renovations to the building were completed, making MMA the perfect state-of-the-art learning environment for students across the county. MMA is not a discipline school, but instead is a school that builds discipline. The curriculum is challenging and designed to prepare students for today s workforce or post-secondary education. The school helps students to build leadership characteristics. Every cadet is an asset, and MMA believes that every cadet can and will be successful.

Part I Additional Required Information Military Magnet Academy (MMA) needs the following information with this application. Your child s present school can assist with these needs. All items must be received before an application can be processed and must be received before November 1, 2014. Two teacher recommendations (attached) from your current school A copy of the student s Student Summary Report (From PowerSchool) A copy of the student s IEP (Individual Education Plan or 504 Plan (If requested information for the application is not provided, this will jeopardize your child s acceptance) Please note that if your child is accepted, the camp fee as well as academic record documents submitted from your previous school- will be due after acceptance. It is $100 for the Winter Camp Session and $195 for the Summer Camp Session. This fee is also non-refundable. Winter enrollment occurs after the end of first semester. Tentative Fees: Winter Camp (including 5 camp uniforms, lodging, transportation, and meals)- $108 Summer Camp (including 5 camp uniforms, lodging, transportation, and meals)- $203 Uniform Fees (middle school only)- $300 I am applying for : Summer Camp or Winter Camp (Student begins August 2015) (Student begins January 2016) Students must successfully complete camp for final admission to MMA.
