Connect a Terminal or PC to the Console Port The console port is a service port to which you can connect a terminal or PC in order to configure the software by using the command line interface. To connect a terminal or PC to the console port, follow the steps: 1. Connect the RJ-45 patch cable to the gateway s console port and RJ45-DB9 adapter. 2. Connect the DB-9 connector to at terminal or PC. Connect LAN to the Ethernet Port To connect DEX28 to local area network, follow the steps: RJ45-DB9 Adapter Ethernet Switch RJ45 STP Patch Cable IP 1. Connect one end of the RJ-45 patch cable to the gateway s Ethernet port. 2. Connect the other end of the RJ-45 patch cable to Ethernet hub/switch directly. Connection can be also made indirectly through patch panel or wall outlet. Connect the Power and Turn-On the Device! Caution: Be sure to use the power supply that was supplied with your DEX28 gateway. To connect the AC adapter to the DEX28 gateway and turn it on, follow the steps: Power Supply Adapter Power Supply Cord 1. Connect one end of the power supply cable to the gateway s input jack. 2. Connect the other end of the power supply cable to the desktop power adapter. 3. Plug the power cord of the desktop power adapter into an electrical outlet. The blue LED on the front panel of the gateway lights when you connect the gateway to a power source. The gateway is now ready to be used. If the blue LED does not turn on, refer to the Troubleshooting the gateway chapter. IPTC Albatross DEX28-VR3P Quick Installation Guide 3
System Configuration Using Console Port Start HyperTerminal (Start->Programs->Accessories->Communications->HyperTerminal). RS232 settings should be 38400,8,n,1 with hardware flow control (RTS/CTS). HyperTerminal should start and after pressing enter, following welcome screen from DEX28-VR3P should appear: Type in username setup and press enter, then type in password admin and press enter. 4 IPTC Albatross DEX28-VR3P Quick Installation Guide

System Configuration Using Web Browser You can use web browser to configure the gateway. The configuration software runs on Netscape 4.0+, and on Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later. To configure the gateway, open the web browser and type in IP address of the gateway in address field. Following DEX28-VR3P welcome screen should appear: (1) Enter IP address of the DEX28 t (2) Click here Select Configure device option, and type in username and password, then click OK. If you have not set a System password before, the device will accept the default password admin and username system. Remember that all passwords and usernames are case sensitive. If you have changed the System password but cannot remember it, then you should configure device over serial (RS232) cable connected to CONSOLE port. Configuration over serial port allows resetting System password to default value system/admin. 6 IPTC Albatross DEX28-VR3P Quick Installation Guide
Accessing Voice Files on the Network Voice files are stored on the DEX28-VR3P CompactFlash media, which is accessible as Windows network share. Default name of the share is \\vrserno\voice, where vrserno is serial number of the VR3P device.! Consider example where VR3P serial number is VR0001; files on the windows network could be found under the folder \\VR0001\Voice: Configuring Windows Host Name To configure Windows Workgroup/Domain where VR3P belongs to, and its NetBIOS name, on the web admin open Configuration / Network Settings page. Workgroup/Domain is configured as Identity / Workgroup parameter, and NetBIOS name is configured as Identity / NetBIOS name parameter. In the following example, VR3P is configured to appear as VR0001 under the CORPNET windows domain, in which case voice files could be found on the windows share \\VR0001\Voice. Voice Recording Parameters Voice recording quality and other parameters can be configured on the web admin page Configuration / Ports Parameter Description: Directory Number The symbolical name of the extension/port, which is used to identify port. It should be unique across the VR3P device. The simplest way is to use extension number on the PBX as the value. Default values are 101, 102 etc. CODEC Compression algorithm used to store voice files. Available CODECs are: G.711 64 kbps G.726 16..48 kbps MP3 8 or 16 kbps Chosen CODEC influences VR3P capacity to store voice recording. Example: If you select MP3 16 kbps CODEC, then on the VR3P having 2GB CompactFlash, available size for all voice files will be: (2 GBy 0.3 MBy sys. space) / 2 kby/sec = 850 000 sec which is approximately 10 days of continuous recorded voice. FTP URL The list of URLs where voice files are automatically copied after recording. Format: ftp://username:password@server/folder Example: ftp://voice:rec@10.0.1.56/vr0001 Max Recorded File Size Voice files are kept bellow this limit. Parameter is given in seconds. If the conversation is longer than this parameter, then it is split in multiple voice files, each having up to maximum allowed file size. Min Recorded File Size Recorded voice files are removed from the system if bellow this limit. Parameter is given in milliseconds. Voice Activity Detection Enable VAD Threshold Level VAD Hangover-Time Enables VAD principle of determining presence of speech, instead of normal monitored messages and orders issued by PBX to DTS. Note: This parameter should be turned on if MD110/MX-ONE OWS or the Operator are connected through the port, because OWS and Operator are always in speech from the MD110/MX-ONE point of view. PCM threshold level to start recording. Higher values decrease sensitivity. Number of milliseconds waiting to elapse to stop recording, after missing to detect speech. This parameter should cover the gaps/silence between words and sentences. 8 IPTC Albatross DEX28-VR3P Quick Installation Guide
