Strong Technology OMNOVA serves the needs of the global oil and gas market from technical centers of excellence in both the U.S. and Europe. Our business draws from three areas of technical focus. Technical Solutions This team is focused on customization of core chemistries to meet specific oil and gas application requirements. Research and Development Our R&D team is focused on breakthrough innovations for oil and gas drilling and production. Advanced Technology OMNOVA s broader technical organization provides strong support by concentrating on polymerization, physical and chemical analyses, and process development. OMNOVA has the unique ability and core competency to design synthetic polymers that meet conventional and unconventional drilling and production requirements, including: Solubility in a wide array of organic drilling fluids for efficient fluid loss control High-temperature/high pressure performance Sealing in shales Ionic (salt) stability in high performance water based muds OMNOVA is committed to bringing innovation and high value to the oilfield with an ever-growing portfolio of additives for drilling, cementing and stimulation fluids.

DRILLING FLUID ADDITIVES OMNOVA s broad offering of high performance drilling fluid additives has earned a strong reputation over more than a decade by delivering customized solutions to service providers and end users in a wide range of wellbore stability applications. We design and manufacture synthetic polymers in the United States and Europe, while distributing solutions globally. OMNOVA has set itself apart with industry-leading technologies, including the exclusive Pliolite family of high temperature fluid loss control products for non-aqueous fluids. The challenges of effectively managing today s sophisticated drilling fluids are unique, with the operating dynamics of the customer increasingly crossing paths with the drive to extract more value and performance. Service companies are feeling the pressure to innovate and deliver more. This is where OMNOVA excels. DRILLING FLUID ADDITIVES Pliolite From deepwater to extended-reach applications, the more challenging the well, the greater value OMNOVA s Pliolite polymers deliver. Engineered to perform with many specific base oils in temperatures up to 500 F (260 C), these proven products create a unique microgel structure designed to provide excellent fluid loss control with low formation damage. Particle morphology, resin solubility and crosslink density are optimized to make Pliolite polymers versatile and cost effective fluid loss additives at low concentrations. ViscoDrill To date, the search for a suitable alternative to organophilic clays has been met with limited success. That changes thanks to OMNOVA s ViscoDrill polymeric viscosifier that provides an innovative, efficient alternative to organoclays. Both its chemistry and particle morphology were designed to make ViscoDrill a versatile fluid additive, allowing for accurate rheological control of non-aqueous fluids at low dosage in all base oils. Drilling fluids formulated with ViscoDrill additives are stable under severe chemical and shear conditions up to 500 F (260 C). GenCeal For water-based applications, OMNOVA s GenCeal drilling fluid additives deliver fluid loss control, reduced permeability and plugging capacity in a unique way. GenCeal DF additives are microparticles (in water-based emulsions and in powder form) used to plug porous formations, strengthening the wellbore. Deformable microparticles survive high salt and high temperature to provide downhole plugging in environments up to 400 F (204 C). Verus For conventional drilling applications, OMNOVA has developed Verus polymers and additives. Addressing a cost/performance gap between OMNOVA s industry-leading Pliolite and GenCeal drilling fluid additives and traditionally mined Gilsonite asphaltic resin and amine treated lignites (black powders), Verus drilling fluid additives have been value-engineered in an environmentally preferred formulation to enhance fluid loss control at a low dosage at temperatures up to 300 F (149 C).

CEMENTING ADDITIVES AND MORE OMNOVA makes liquid and dry cementing additives that contribute to beneficial flow and structural properties. Ensuring long-term wellbore integrity is no longer solely about protecting an operator s asset. The challenges presented by the growing complexity of today s wellbores, the enhanced regulatory requirements, and public scrutiny associated with zonal isolation require a step-change in cement slurry solutions. OMNOVA has a range of additives along with a research and development team dedicated to driving further innovation in cementing. OMNOVA provides advanced cementing latices to enhance cement flow and prevent annular gas migration which are particularly effective under high-temperature and high-pressure bottom hole environments. GenCeal polymers efficiently plug porosity during the hydration of cement, providing fluid loss and gas migration control; microparticles tolerate high temperatures and salts, enabling easy and uniform dispersion into cement slurries, while reducing the fluid density. Upon cement setting, acting as a film-forming binder, latices contribute to enhancing strength properties of the cement. Pliolite cementing polymers and elastomeric modifiers improve mechanical properties and the resiliency of cements. Pliolite CM powders easily disperse into cement slurries, reducing density, and are effective at wellbore temperatures up to 500 F (260 C). CEMENTING ADDITIVES AND MORE Always Innovating At OMNOVA, we realize your needs are unique. Whether your challenges can be addressed with customization of our existing chemistries or you are anticipating future challenges not yet on the horizon, we are committed to working with you. We are at our best when we collaborate with you to close your technical gaps with a rapid turnaround. OMNOVA continues to support the rapidly evolving needs of service providers and specialty chemical manufacturers to enhance their market driven solutions. Whether focused on the wellbore or reservoir, old wells or new wells, shale gas drilling, matrix acidation or hydraulic fracturing, OMNOVA s experts are continually searching for solutions to help you reduce costs and improve performance in creative ways. Inserting OMNOVA s innovative approach into your product development program will help you bridge that gap.
