WELCOMING NOTE This Welcoming Guide aims to be a facilitating instrument of the welcoming process of the reception and integration of the research grantees that, for the first time, have come in contact with Católica Porto. The main objective of this guide is to provide information about Católica Porto, which may facilitate your integratin in the Institution, as well as in the Unit, Department or Service where you will be practicing your work. This document will allow you to become aware of the organizational structure and the functioning of the institution at various levels, duly classified in your general objectives and in your strategic areas. If, after reading this guide, you have any doubts or concerns, you may direct them to the Direction of Personnel Management - Direção de Gestão de Pessoas. Welcome!

PRESENTATION OF UNIVERSIDADE CATÓLICA PORTUGUESA HISTORY The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) was created in 1967 through the foundation of the Faculdade de Filosofia (Braga). In 1968, opened its head office in Lisbon, and was recognized by the Government in 1971. It is the first portuguese university that was not established by the Government, but by the Catholic Church, under the Concordat of 1940 between the Portuguese Government and the Holy See. Since then, it has provided a significant contribution to the development of Portuguese higher education. The diploma of legislative framework from UCP Decreto-Lei nº 128/90 published in 1990, recognized it as such. PRESENTATION OF UNIVERSIDADE CATÓLICA PORTUGUESA GOVERNING STRUCTURE The Universidade Católica Portuguesa is a free, autonomous and public academic institution. It is currently made up of fiffteen basic teaching and research, as well as three similar departments. UCP is an academic and administrative unit, decentralized into four Regional Centres: Beiras, Braga, Lisboa (head office) and Porto. The current Statuses of the University, enacted in 1993, identify the following governing bodies : The Grand Chancellor, The Dean, The Board, The Dean's Board, The Board of Financial Management. The Congregation for Catholic Education and the Portuguese Episcopalian Conference are both hierarchically superior bodies of the University.. PRESENTATION OF CATÓLICA PORTO INTRODUCTION Católica Porto began its activities in 1978 with the Faculdade de Direito. It is divided into 2 campuses: Campus Foz Located near Foz Velha. It integrates six teaching units: Escola das Artes, Escola de Direito, Faculdade de Economia e Gestão, Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia, Faculdade de Teologia, Instituto de Bioética. Campus Asprela: Located near the Pólo Universitário do Porto. It integrates two teaching units: Escola Superior de Biotecnologia and Instituto de Ciências da Saúde.

HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE SERVICE FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE Católica Porto possesses an internal organization of the Health and Safety in the Workplace service (HSW). This area vows to practice its activities in such a way where it permanantly guarantees the safety and preservation of human life, the environment, the heritage and its operability, taking into consideration the following principles of HSW: To promote and strengthen the safety management system, establishing the organizational structure, the responsibilities and the necessary resources for it s establishment; To assure the fulfillment of the demands set forth in the legislation and in the active regulation; To prmote the improvement of the activities, facilities and workplaces in order to prevent accidents and professional sicknesses; To promote the formation and information relative to the inherent risks of all activities in Católica Porto, to students and staff, making them aware of the fulfilling of the security norms; To assure the envolvement and improvement of the satisfaction of all of Católica Porto, stimulating its capacity for initiative for HSW. )

HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE WORK ACCIDENTS All scholarship holders are covered by a work accident insurance policy A work accident is considered to be any sudden and unforeseen event, which occurs during work hours and at the work place, which causes an injury or sickness, whether directly or indirectly which, in turn, results in a reduction of an individual s capacity to work, to gain, or death. The following, among others, are also considered to be work accidents: On the way to, or from, the workplace; In the spontaneous execution of services which may be of economic gain to the employer; Outside the workplace or work hours, but during the execution of orders or services requested or consented by the employer; During vocational training.

HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE PROCEDURES IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT IN THE WORKPLACE IN PORTUGAL Work Accident Yes Do you need to be rescued immediately? No In the Hospital where first aid is provided, request a report in order to present it to the insurance company. Clarify if the work accident is covered by UCP s insurance nº 3032916/0 from Fidelidade Contact the Personnel Management immediately to report the accident Contact the Personnel Management immediately to report the accident Report to Hospital Lusiadas Porto, (Av. da Boavista nº171 R/C Porta lateral - Porto), to be analysed by the doctor appointed by the insurance policy, making sure you are in possession of the Report document filled in by the Board of Personnel Management with your assistance Note: It is advised to read the document Acidentes de Trabalho Fidelidade which features detailed information concerning the work accident insurance policy. HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE PROCEDURES IN CASE OF TRIPS ABROAD Trips abroad are covered by the insurance policy and also a travel insurance named AIG Chartis Mission. To activate these insurances, the Board of Personnel Management must be aware of the Research Grantee s trip abroad. HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE PROCEDURES IN CASE OF TRIPS ABROAD (CONT.) If any scholarship holder is to travel abroad, in the service of Católica Porto they must communicate with at least 5 working days, his visit the Board of Personnel Management, through e-mail (gpessoas@porto.ucp.pt) with the following elements: Full name Duration of trip Destination City / Country Reason for travel Considering the difficulty in immediately classifying if the accident is in fact work related or not, in case of an accident abroad, please act according to what is set out below:

Contact the following: As soon as possible, Inform the hospital/clinic that you are covered by an insurance. Contact the Personnel Management to report the accident to the insurance company. Contact the Assistance Company - Travel Guard. Describe the accident that required immediate assistance and identify the hospital/clinic where you are located. As you are covered by a work accident insurance policy, mention that you are receiving participation, but are unsure if the accident may not be classified as a work accident, and as such, intend on using the AIG Mission insurance and request instructions concerning the measures to take. 1. Personnel Management to report the accident to the insurance company and, 2. The Assistance Company - Travel Guard, inform them that you've had an accident, are covered by a work accident insurance policy and that you are unsure if the AIG Mission insurance is applicable to the accident you have described Direct yourself to the nearest hospital or clinic. If you have doubts concerning the classification of the accident, you must follow the instructions set forth by the Assistance Company Travel Guard, while making sure that those same instructions do not alienate the procedure if the accident is in fact a work accident.

ENVIRONMENT BASIC CONDUCT The protection and preservation of the environment is a concern to Católica Porto. It is in small deeds that, in our day-today, we can reduce the impact of our activities on the environment, with an attitude of concern and responsibility. This way, it is possible to identify basic conducts that must be implemented and followed during your day-to-day work and in all activities carried out inside the Católica Porto facilities: Turn off the lights when rooms are not being used; Turn off equipment when they are not being used; Turn off computer hardware in post-laboural hours; Unplug any electronic equipment that is not being used (such as cell phone chargers); Preferably take the stairs instead of the elevator; Take advantage of the most natural light as possible before using artificial light; Use, whenever possible, the least amount of water when using the taps in the bathrooms; Properly close taps, so as to avoid "dripping".

COMMUNICATION NEWSLETTER ACONTECE NA CATÓLICA On a weekly basis, ever Research Grantee recieves an informative newsletter Acontece na Católica, with everything that is going on inside the institution and relevent news of the Católica Porto. On a daily basis, and anytime deemed necessary, another newsletter is also sent Católica Porto Acontece Hoje - with everything that will happen on that day. This way, it allows everyone to be aware of the activities going on in Católica Porto and it makes it possible for everyone to participate in the activities they find interesting.

COMMUNICATION TELEPHONE LINE INTERNAL CALLS To make internal calls all you need to do is dial the number of the extension you wish to speak. EXTERNAL CALLS To make external calls, you must dial the number 0, and only after you dial the number you wish to call. Please note that incoming calls can be of different types:: national, international and to mobile phones. The permissions to acces external calls differs from extension to extension.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS NETWORK SERVICES: LOGIN To access Católica Porto's information systems, you must be duly authorized and for that, it is necessary to create access to the information systems, namely, the local private network, institutional mail address, intranet, printing, internet and online campus (if you are teacher) among others. Therefore, upon the entry of a new research grantee, the Board of Personnel Management makes a request to the Computer Support Service to create a network login, that depending on the permissions set, will give access to the afore mentioned network resources.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS NETWORK SERVICES: E-MAIL Católica Porto provides an e-mail address to all teachers and staff. E-mail can be read via webmail (https://mail.porto.ucp.pt) using their respective username in the format username@ucpcrp.pt and password. Attention: The sending and receiving of e-mails is limited to 10 MB, whereas the maximum capacity of the inbox is 500 MB.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS NETWORK SERVICES: DATA AREAS. All users have access to three data areas, each one with different sizes and purposes, accessible to any equipment connected to the network, whose characteristics are: Home Folder (Drive H:) Personal area, accessible only by the user, through their username and password; there are 3 different capacity levels available, as are demonstrated the needs of each user, being the default size 250 MB; Group Folder (Drive G:) Group area, accessible to every element of the Area/Unit, in which it is located, as long as a login to the network with a username and password has been carried out; it has a capacity of 300 MB per user and must be used in connection with the Work Group in which they operates in order to share information. Public Folder (Drive P:) Public area, accessible to every element of the Staff that has logged into the network with a username and password; it has a capacity of 50 MB per user and must be used exclusively for sharing information that may be of general interest to the Staff. This area is deleted on a regular basis.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS NETWORK SERVICES: DATA AREAS (CONT.) A daily backup of any of these data areas is carried out, meaning that each person must manage what they place there (the data areas must not be used to save software, music, photos, or videos) and what is saved on the hard drive of each computer. If you exceed the storage limits, you will not be able to save anything else, you must delete items until you have space to save other items.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS COMPUTER SUPPORT SERVICE (STI) The STI provides a Computer Support Service - Helpdesk for the purpose of: Supporting the utilization of the provided equipment and software; Configuring and giving support to the standard software that is allowed to install on the computers; Installing and configuring the equipment that belongs to Católica Porto. INFORMATION SYSTEMS COMPUTER SUPPORT SERVICE (CONT.) Install or execute any other software besides what is already installed in the Católica Porto equipment. If such need presents itself, a request to install must me made, regarding the software s availability and prior authorization from the CSS. IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO: Alter any system or application configurations, unless previously validated by the CSS. Open equipment or peripherals, alter network connections or to change their place, unless previously authorized. Use instant messaging or chat services (with exception to duly justified cases); Use online video and audio services, for the purpose of radio or TV streaming.

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT The library is part of the network of Universidade Católica Portuguesa s libraries, Given its nature, the library has as its mission to provide the necessary information resources to the university s community so that they may fulfill their objectives regarding their studies, teaching, research and relations with the community, as well as to promote the development of skills in research, location, access, evaluation (critical) and information organization. OTHER INFORMATION: Catering: In either Católica Porto campus there are catering services such as bars and canteens. Every week the menu for the week is e- mailed to staff members. Both campuses provide parking in the University parking lot. Parking Lot Usage: In the Foz campus Type of Park Board Parking Teacher s Parking Limited Parking Users Directors, Board staff and duly authorized guests. Teachers identified by badges, which are requested near the Board of Academics. Teachers, staff and students identified by I.D. Cards from Católica Porto. In the Asprela campus, the parking lot is used by Teachers, staff and students of Católica Porto.
