Insurance is important Types of cover Everyone can benefit from some level of insurance A quick recap on the most common types of cover Everyone can benefit from some level of insurance but there are specific points in life when people need to seriously consider their personal insurance needs: ` buying a new home or increasing their mortgage ` getting married or divorced ` having children ` getting a new job or pay increase Customers must be eligible for insurance and be able to afford it. The following booklet will help you to determine those customers who may benefit most from a referral to BT Advice Centre, when the customer isn t the right fit for comprehensive financial planning or doesn t want to see a financial planner. As well as promoting the BTAC service to new customers, the Firefly search section suggests which of your existing customers may benefit from a conversation about insurance, so you can be proactive in winning all of your customers business. The booklet sets out some insurance products customers may want to consider. Customers should be referred to BTAC to discuss further. Term Life Pays a benefit in the event of death or on diagnosis of terminal illness. Living insurance Pays a benefit if the insured person suffers from a specified Medical Event such as cancer, a heart condition or loss of a limb (also referred to as trauma insurance). Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) Insurance Pays a benefit if the insured person is unlikely to work again, perform household duties again, or suffer a loss of ability due to a permanent disability. Income Protection Provides an income replacement benefit for up to 75% of the insured person s regular monthly earnings if they re unable to work at their full capacity due to sickness or injury.
