For a paper application, send an Email to admissions@ntc.edu or you may call (715) 675-3331. 3. There is a $30.00 non-refundable application fee. Caution! There are two Human Services Associate Degree Programs 1. When you get to the Website, go to Programs and Courses. 2. Next, check Associate Degrees. 3. Then, choose Human Services Associate Degree AODA NTC/NWTC as your program of choice. 4. Do not choose the Human Services Associate Degree Program; choose only the Human Services Associate Degree AODA. Can I get an application fee waiver? 1. Yes, you can get an application fee waiver, but first, you must provide proof that you are getting some kind of aid, such as: Badger Care, food stamps, and etcetera. 2. Make a copy of the aid, and attach it to your paper application. Send both documents directly to Northcentral Technical College along with your paper application. 3. Mail paper application to: NTC Admissions Office ~1000 West Campus Drive ~ Wausau, WI 54401 4. The college does not give a fee waiver for an online application. Once I apply, how long will it take for my application to be processed? It will take between five (5) and seven (7) business days to process your application. Northcentral Technical College will send you an acceptance letter once you have been admitted into the program. You must give a copy of your acceptance letter to the Program Enrollment Specialist, Joan Marcel. You can send it via U.S. mail, or drop it off at the Welcome Center. Do I need to provide high school transcripts to NTC? High school transcripts are not required for acceptance into this program, but may be used to show proof of prerequisites. High school transcripts may also contain ACT or Accuplacer scores taken while in high school, and may meet testing requirements if taken within the last five years. 2 I do not have a high school diploma. Does NTC accept the GED or HSED to qualify for Human Services AODA shared program? Yes. Even though NTC does not require submission of high school transcripts, they do require one of the following credentials for acceptance into any of their degree granting programs: High school diploma GED HSED Should I include college transcripts? Yes, if you want credit for certain general education courses, include your college transcripts. Please keep in mind though, in order to be granted a degree from NTC, you need to earn 25% of your credits from NTC. In this particular case, you need to earn 18 credits from NTC. Testing: Should I take the Accuplacer or the TABE? If I need to take the TABE, which version do I take? 1. You must first take the Accuplacer, if you do not meet the benchmarks; you then take the TABE A. 2. Take the TABE A only if you need to remediate. See remediation information below. What Accuplacer scores do I need to meet the benchmarks? You must go to www.ntc.edu to get the most up to date admissions requirements. What happens if I do not meet benchmarks? 1. Remediation: If you score below the requirements on any portion of the ACT or Accuplacer, you will need to complete remediation with the NWTC Academic Skills Lab, or a similar service at another college. For the remediation process at NWTC and how to complete it; you can direct your questions to the Academic Skills Lab at (920) 498-5686. 2. Testing for remediation: If the Academic Skills Lab instructors recommend that you re-test, you will need to take the TABE A. Make sure to let the Assessment Center staff knows that you are testing for the Human Services AODA shared program. If you meet the benchmarks, ask that they send your scores to Northcentral Technical College. You must provide the NWTC Assessment Center staff with the NTC Admissions Office address. This is to ensure that your scores are mailed correctly. 3. TABE A scores needed for remediation are: Math 12.0 Reading 12.0 Sentence Skills 12.0 4. Please note: your scores cannot be less than 12.0 for anyone of these subjects. 5. You may meet testing requirements if the test was taken within the last five (5) years. 3 Where can I take the test? 1. On the Green Bay campus, you can take the Accuplacer or TABE at the NWTC Assessment Center. It is on the third floor of the Student Center building in room SC 365. Their phone number is (920) 498-5427. 2. However, you must schedule a test time; please call 888-385-6982. You will be given a schedule of the days and times for either the Accuplacer or TABE. You can also schedule a test at the NWTC Welcome Center. It is on the second floor of the Student Center Building. 3. You may also test at the Marinette and Sturgeon Bay campuses, as well as the NWTC Regional Centers. Contact the NWTC Call Center at (920) 498-5444 for contact information for these sites. Is there a fee to take the test, and do I need to bring anything with me to the test? 1. Yes, it costs $20.00 to take the test. 2. Yes, you will be required to present a picture ID, and you will not be allowed to take the test without one. 3. Please come at least 15 minutes prior to your test. 4. You will need to pre-register for the test. Contact the NWTC Call Center at 498-5444 to schedule an appointment. Will I receive my financial aid from NTC or NWTC? Northcentral Technical College will manage your financial aid once you are fully accepted into the program. Their school code is 005387. Use this code when completing the FAFSA. Students are also eligible for NTC scholarships. Contact the NTC financial aid office for scholarship information. If my financial aid is not available when classes start, does NTC have a payment plan? Yes, NTC offers a payment plan. They use the FACTS for payment plan. Will I be able to receive financial aid from NTC with on deck status? No, you cannot get financial aid from NTC while you have on deck status. I understand there is only a fall start for students in the shared program; can I take classes as at NWTC while waiting to be fully accepted at NTC? 4 I already have a degree. Should I still apply to the Human Services Program at NTC? 1. That depends in what area you have earned your degree. For example, if you have a degree in Business or Communications, you would need to apply to the Human Services Program. 2. If you have a degree in the human services area, you may put an application in for the AODA certificate. 3. Caution: the AODA certificate does not have a field placement requirement. 4. The following criteria are required for licensure: an educational background in human services related areas such as, but not limited to social work or criminal justice. I have already taken some AODA courses at another school. Can I have those courses waived? 1. No. You must earn 25% of your credits at NWTC before you are granted a degree or certificate (regardless of your educational background). 2. All AODA courses must be taken at one institution, either at NWTC, or at NTC. 3. Students may not take AODA courses at both colleges to fulfill licensing requirements. I understand that there is a mandatory field placement. What are the requirements for field placement? Field placement requirements: 1. Prior to field placement, a physical/health updated immunization form and TB status must be completed; a field site may require it. 2. Completion of all field placement prerequisites. Will I need to find an internship site, or does the program do this for me? 1. Field Experience 1 is taken during the third semester, and you will receive assistance in finding an internship site. 2. Field Experience 2 is taken in the fourth semester. I want to be AODA certified. Will completion of this program help me get certification? Yes, the NWTC AODA Certificate is built into the curriculum, and it is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing. There is not a definitive answer to this question because there are so many variables that impact any career. It is best to stop at the NWTC Career Center to gather information about the job outlook.
