I am proud and honoured to be selected to represent NYP for the Overseas Industrial Placement Programme (OIPP) at Queen Mary University of London, UK. The experience enabled me to work on a nanotechnology-based research project. JAE CODE C42 COMMON ENGINEERING PROGRAMME ENGINEERING IS A BROAD DISCIPLINE that offers you vast opportunities for both career and academic advancement. If you are uncertain of which field to specialise in, like many of our students, the Common Engineering Programme is the perfect course for you. This programme is designed to give you a broad foundation of the fundamentals of engineering, common to a wide range of engineering disciplines, through subjects like Introduction to Engineering, Mechanics and Materials, Electrical Principles, Computer Programming and Engineering Mathematics. After you have gained an overview in the first semester, you can decide which diploma course is best suited for you amongst the nine offered by SEG. WHAT S IN STORE The Common Engineering Programme runs for one semester and introduces you to various engineering disciplines through five engineering modules and two personal enrichment/ enhancement modules. Minimum Entry Requirements ADMISSION PROCEDURES FOR DIPLOMA COURSES Depending on your qualifications, you may apply through one of the following Admissions Exercises: Applicants for the diploma programmes must have obtained the following minimum results taken at not more than two sittings of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O Level Examination. The minimum GCE O Level entry requirements for the courses under the DPA, JAE and JPSAE are: SUBJECT GRADE English Language 1-7 Elementary or Additional Mathematics Any one of the following subjects: Biology Chemistry Combined Science Computer Studies Design and Technology Engineering Science Fundamentals of Electronics, Physical Science Physics Science (Chemistry/Biology) Science (Physics/Biology) Science (Physics/Chemistry) 1-6 1-6 The minimum GCE N Level entry requirements for the courses under the PFP are: ELMAB3 1 RAW AGGREGATE SCORE (excluding CCA bonus points) 11 SUBJECT MIN. GRADE English Language Syllabus A 3 Mathematics (Syllabus A/ Additional) One of the following relevant subjects: Science (Chemistry/Biology) Science (Physics/Biology) Science (Physics/Chemistry) Food & Nutrition Design & Technology Any two other subjects excluding CCA 1 Sec 4N(A) students who obtained an ELMAB3 (English, Maths, Best 3 Subjects) raw aggregate score of 11 points or better (excluding CCA bonus points) at the GCE N Level examination will be eligible to apply to NYPFP, provided that they have also obtained the minimum required grades listed in the table above. 3 3 3 QUALIFICATIONS GCE O Level GCE N Level ITE Certificates Malaysian SPM or STPM Holders of GCE A Level, GCE O Level (those who did not participate in JAE), Integrated Programme (IP), or foreign qualifications (equivalent to GCE O and A Levels) METHOD OF APPLICATION Direct Poly Admission (DPA) Application opens in July. Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) Application commences on the day of release of the GCE O Level results. Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE) Application commences on the day of release of the GCE O Level results. Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) Application commences on the day of release of the GCE O Level results. Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE) Application opens in February.
