1 FOREWORD NORSOK (The competitive standing of the Norwegian offshore sector) is the industry initiative to add value, reduce cost and lead time and remove unnecessary activities in offshore field developments and operations. The NORSOK standards are developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry as a part of the NORSOK initiative and are jointly issued by OLF (The Norwegian Oil Industry Association) and TBL (The Federation of Norwegian Engineering Industries). NORSOK standards are administered by NTS (Norwegian Technology Standards Institution). The purpose of this industry standard is to replace the individual oil company specifications for use in existing and future petroleum industry developments, subject to the individual company's review and application. The NORSOK standards make extensive references to international standards. Where relevant, the contents of this standard will be used to provide input to the international standardization process. Subject to implementation into international standards, this NORSOK standard will be withdrawn. This standard will be used for further development of ISO 11960 and ISO/WD 13680. Non-ISO standard pipe is included to cover demanding conditions such as deep wells, high pressure high temperature wells and wells for sour service. 2 SCOPE This standard covers the technical delivery requirements for ISO standard and non-iso standard seamless and electric welded tubing and casing. Both carbon /low alloy steel pipe and corrosion resistant alloy steel pipe are included. 3 NORMATIVE REFERENCES ISO 11960 ISO/WD 13680 NACE MR0175 NACE TM0177 EFC Publication no. 16A EFC Doc. no. 4 DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS 4.1 Definitions Normative references Informative references Shall Should May Can 4.2 Abbreviations EFC ISO NACE WD Shall mean normative in the application of NORSOK standards. Shall mean informative in the application of NORSOK standards. Shall is an absolute requirement which shall be followed strictly in order to conform with the standard. Should is a recommendation. Alternative solutions having the same functionality and quality are acceptable. May indicates a course of action that is permissible within the limits of the standard (a permission). Can-requirements are conditional and indicates a possibility open to the user of the standard. European Federation of Corrosion International Organisation for Standardisation National Association of Corrosion Engineers Working Draft 5 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS All material grades shall comply with the requirements stated within ISO 11960 and ISO/WD 13680 and the additional requirements detailed within this standard. ISO 11960 is the governing standard for low-alloy steel, carbon steel and 13% chromium steel. ISO/WD 13680 is the governing draft standard for other corrosion resistant alloy grades. 6 ISO 11960 STEEL PIPES FOR USE AS CASING OR TUBING 6.1 Charpy V-notch general requirements SR16 shall apply for all type of products and material grades. The test temperature shall be -10 o C. 6.2 Sulphide stress cracking test - ISO group 2 - Grade L-80, type 13Cr The manufacturer shall prior to delivery demonstrate that this alloy meets the requirements of NACE standard MR0175, i.e. that this alloy is resistant to sulphide stress cracking when the NACE TM0177 test solution has a ph of 3.5 and the partial pressure of H 2 S is 0.1bar. Triplicate specimens shall be sampled from a pipe or coupling stock used for tensile testing. The test methods to be used shall be those detailed within the EFC publication number 16 for either the smooth tensile test or the C-ring test. The applied stress level for both tests shall be 80% of SMYS and the test period shall be 720 hours. This is a performance test that shall be performed once for each grade from each manufacturer, as long as chemical composition and manufacturing procedure are not changed. Single tempering of 13Cr steel may be used provided it is documented that the sulphide stress cracking resistance is acceptable. NORSOK standard Page 3 of 6

6.3 Frequency of testing 6.3.1 Impact tests - all steel groups This shall conform to ISO 11960 section 9.3.2.6 as applied to ISO group 4 steel grade. 6.3.2 Metallographic evaluation of ERW pipes of all steel groups This shall conform to ISO 11960 section 9.3.2.7. 7 ISO/WD 13680 CORROSION RESISTANT ALLOY SEAMLESS PIPE 7.1 Straightening ISO/WD 13680 alloy group 1 and 2 shall conform to the ISO 11960 group 2 requirements. 7.2 Traceability This shall be in accordance with the requirements of ISO 11960 section 5.4, group 4 grades. 7.3 Sulphide stress cracking test This shall conform to ISO/WD 13680 section 8.4, table 10 and the test requirements detailed in the EFC document number O&G-93-2. Details regarding test method and duration should be considered. 7.3.1 Charpy V-notch general requirements This shall be in accordance with ISO 11960 section 6.2.3 for coupling stock, coupling blanks and couplings with both ISO and premium threads and ISO 11960 SR16 for all pipe groups. The test temperature for all product types shall be -10 o C. The test frequency shall be as dictated by section 10.4.1 in ISO/WD 13680. 8 NON-ISO STANDARD GRADES 8.1 General The non-iso grades covered by this standard are listed in table 8.1.
