Traditional activity based on artisan fishing gears Cabrera fisheries stocks have differential market value in Majorca First regulations in 1991 From September 2001 fishing regulated via a specific Fisheries Management Plan Fisheries at Cabrera waters

Fisheries Management Plan (RD 941/01) Monitoring of fisheries, fishing effort and law enforcement at Cabrera waters carried out by the park staff and external agents (mostly IEO) Catches registered by the fishermen themselves and external agents (mostly IEO) Data loaded into data bases and GIS to perform data analisys and effort maps

Fisheries Management Plan (RD 941/01) -Fishing restricted to artisan professional fishermen, belonging to harbours in the vicinity of the park and with prooved activity in the area before park s declaration in 1991. -61 fishing boats belonging to 4 harbours: Palma, Porto Colom, Santanyi and Colonia de Sant Jordi. Closed list. -Sport fishing totally banned in the whole of Cabrera waters -Non traditional or massive fishing gears forbiden: trawlers, long-line fisheries, etc

Fisheries Management Plan (RD 941/01) -Fishing gears, fishing effort, daily timing and yearly calendar (closed seasons) stricly regulated -Fishermen have to apply in advance for a week license, allowing to work from Monday to Friday, up to a maximum of 20 boats/day -Bathimetric limitations: Gill nets and trammel nets forbbiden under 20 m -No Take Areas: strict Marine Reserves (MR) with a total area of 264 ha -Cabrera harbour and diving zones managed as a fisheries reserve as well MORUNAS GILL NETS BOTTOM HOOK LINES CERCO TOTAL COL.
