2 Section 1: Directed Writing 1 Read carefully the letter addressed to Elena in the Reading Booklet Insert. Then answer Section 1, Question 1 on this Question Paper. Imagine that you are Elena and you are going to answer Freya s letter. Write your letter, which will be published in the magazine. In your letter you should: identify and evaluate Freya s arguments and concerns give Freya suitable advice for her situation. Base your letter on what you have read in the passage, but be careful to use your own words. Address each of the two bullet points. Begin your letter, Dear Freya, I was sad to read your letter and I understand your feelings. However, I am sure that your situation is not as hopeless as you imagine. Write between 1½ and 2 sides, allowing for the size of your handwriting. Up to 10 marks are available for the content of your answer, and up to 15 marks for the quality of your writing.
