Joy Lutheran Church Christmas Program On Wednesday no costumes in Sanctuary 1. Parents need to stay for the practice. We don t know when we will finish and may finish early. 2. No costumes for this practice. 3. Everyone in the sanctuary. 4. Give instruction to parents for Sunday. 5. All students walk out 6. Practice walking in and out a couple time 7. Practice walking through with no singing twice 8. Practice walking through including singing. Joan should be in the sanctuary at 6:30 or so after she finishes piano lessons. 9. Final instructions to all and answer questions from parents 10. Final prayer and thanks to God for our worship of Jesus birth! On Saturday costumes dress rehearsal start in classroom 1. Parents need to stay for the practice. We don t know when we will finish & may finish early. 2. Everyone starts in their classrooms to get organized. 3. From 9 9:30 AM work on costumes. 4. At 9:30 or when your class is ready, go to Sanctuary and wait for practice to begin. Movie on in Sanctuary (compliments of Pastor Amy). 5. Youngest students (pre-k, K) will be excused after the complete run-through hopefully by 10 AM. On Sunday we go live! start in Fellowship Hall 1. 8:15 service arrivals go to the Fellowship Hall for costumes. Keep everyone in the Fellowship Hall. When done, everyone goes back into the Fellowship Hall for snacks. Keep costumes on. 2. 10 AM service arrivals go to Fellowship Hall for costumes. Again, everyone stays t until we go into the Sanctuary. After the program ends, everyone goes to Fellowship Hall to remove costumes. 3. Go to classrooms for 20 or so minutes for lesson/crafts. 4. At 10:55 or so return to Fellowship Hall for wrap up/pick up. Amen The Christmas Story written by Sir Joseph Christopher. Pre-K Swish NARRATOR: Long, long ago in a town named Nazareth, w the wind blew gently and trees said softly. PRE-K TREES: swish, swish, swish, swish NARRATOR: A man named Joseph lived with his wife, Mary. They were a very special family and very close to God. In fact, God had asked Mary to be the mother of his Son. He sent the Angel Gabriel to tell her of the plan and to ask her to be a special part of it. Joseph would help too because he had been chosen to take care of Mary and the baby. When the baby came, they would call him Jesus just as the angel had said. One day the soldiers of the King came to Nazareth. 3 rd grade Speak Here 3RD GRADE SOLDIERS: Everyone must go to the town of their grandparents. The King wants to count his people. NARRATOR: When Joseph heard this, he went to the soldiers and said JOSEPH: My wife, Mary, is having a baby. It will be hard for her to travel. NARRATOR: But the soldiers said 3RD GRADE SOLDIERS: Everyone must go to the town of their grandparents. The King wants to count his people. NARRATOR: When Joseph told Mary the news, he was very sad and worried because they would have to travel all the way to Bethlehem, far far away. NARRATOR: As time went by, Joseph spoke to the soldiers again, hoping they would understand how difficult this trip was for Mary in her condition. JOSEPH: My wife, Mary, is having a baby. It will be hard for her to travel. NARRATOR: Mary loved Joseph very much and she saw that he was very worried. So she kept telling him Pre-K K Clop Swish NARRATOR: The day to go to Bethlehem finally came and Mary and Joseph started the long journey to the town of their grandparents. They packed the donkey with all the things they would need and started out. The little donkey s feet went KINDERGARTEN DONKEYS: Clip Clop, Clip Clop, Clip Clop NARRATOR: As they traveled the road to Bethlehem the wind began to blow and Mary and Joseph could hear the trees saying PRE-K TREES: Swish, swish, swish, swish NARRATOR: in the night air. All through the journey, Joseph kept thinking to himself JOSEPH: My wife, Mary, is having a baby. It is hard for her to travel. NARRATOR: So Joseph was extra kind to her. Meanwhile the trees kept blowing in the wind, saying PRE-K TREES: swish, swish, swish, swish NARRATOR: And the donkey s feet kept going KINDERGARTEN DONKEYS: clip clop, clip clop, clip clop NARRATOR: All the way down the long road to Bethlehem Sing PRE-K TREES AND KINDERGARTEN DONKEYS: Away in the Manager Verse 1 NARRATOR: But Mary just thought that this journey must be a special part of God s plan. And the little donkey s feet carried Joseph and Mary closer and closer to Bethlehem.
4 th grade Speak NARRATOR: It was very late at night when Mary and Joseph reached Bethlehem and Joseph had to look for a place to stay. He knocked at one door after another each time explaining that his wife, Mary, was having a baby. INNKEEPER 1: No room, no room. Go away, go away. Mary and Joseph walk to next innkeeper 4 th grade INNKEEPER 2: No room, no room. Go away, go away. Mary and Joseph walk to next innkeeper INNKEEPER 3: No room, no room. Go away, go away. Mary and Joseph walk to next innkeeper NARRATOR: Mary was very tired by this time, but she still said Special innkeeper: speaks NARRATOR: Finally one innkeeper saw how tired Mary was and knew that she would need a quiet place for this night, so he said SPECIAL INNKEEPER: T is a quiet place w the two of you can stay for the night. It is only a stable but it will be shelter from the night air, and you will be able to rest t. NARRATOR: Mary and Joseph were very grateful and they went to find the shelter that the innkeeper had promised them. They settled themselves for the night while the stars shone brightly all around them. NARRATOR: In the night air, the baby, the long-awaited one that God had promised was born. And Mary and Joseph did as the Angel Gabriel had said. They named him Jesus. They dressed him warmly and wrapped Him in a blanket and tucked Him into the manger. NARRATOR: As the shepherd reached the stable they said 1 st GRADE SHEPHERDS: Praise the Lord! It is just as the angels said! 2ND GRADE ANGELS and 1 ST GRADE SHEPHERDS SING: HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING verse 1 5 th and 6 th grade NARRATOR: And in a land far far away, some Wisemen saw a great star in the sky and said 5TH/6TH GRADE WISEMEN: The Child King is born. We must bring him gifts! NARRATOR: So they traveled following the star until they came to Mary, Joseph and the Baby Jesus. And they said 5TH/6TH GRADE WISEMEN: The Child King is Born.
