Driving Growth through Innovation and Transformation in Manufacturing The sweeping changes in the industry have implications for every business element of the manufacturing sector business-to-business (B2B) organizations are moving to a business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) paradigm, organizations are moving from capex to opex due to cost pressures, lean manufacturing is changing to custom mass manufacturing, and globally agile product development is fast becoming the new differentiator. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have realized that the current models of business are not enough to create a competitive edge. Next-gen technology is the centerpiece of this revolution. Manufacturers who will achieve success in the future will embrace technology-led innovation and embark on this transformation as a means to survive and grow in a sustainable manner.

Reimagining the Manufacturing Enterprise Technology Cube Growth Solving the Rubik s Cube of Manufacturing Value Chain Cube is what we were tasked with! Analytics Mobility Oracle BPM SAP Growth Sales & New Product Marketing Innovation Distribution & Retail Global Supply Chain Manufacturing Aftersales & Service We believe that the manufacturing industry is in the middle of a seismic shift as digitization transforms the way we do business. A bit of historical context helps to understand this change and how businesses need to adapt to thrive Innovation Wave 2 Wave 3 Wave 4 Wave 5 Wave 1 LEAN ADOPTION GROWTH GLOBALIZATION CONSOLIDATION 50s 70s - 90s 2000s now and beyond Time DIGITAL REIMAGINATION Digital Across 4 industries 20 sub industries! Engineering & Design The business of manufacturing is highly complex and can be compared to a Rubik s cube. Each of the six faces of the cube represents an element in the manufacturing value chain. The nine cells on each face represent the multiple sub-business processes. Execution of the business process requires interaction between the different faces of the cube, making for a complex multi-dimensional and open business-interaction model. The manufacturing enterprise cube can be solved much the same way as the Rubik s cube by rotating the cube on its three axes or business dimensions innovation, transformation, and growth The enterprise strategy that the company adopts determines the company s focus on innovation and transformation in technology and business processes which helps drive growth. 3 3 WAVE 1 WAVE 2 WAVE 3 WAVE 4 WAVE 5 During the early stages of industrialization, mass manufacturing deployed by large scale assembly plants brought economies of scale, driving down costs of manufacturing and purchase of goods. Lean manufacturing further reduced cost and time-to-market, improved quality and reliability, and improved the ability to manage a portfolio of products while providing the flexibility of a rapid change over. Thus, tiered supply chains were born. The globalization of networks and tiered supply chains shifted the sources of supply and demand. Larger globalized manufacturers created tiered suppliers in local markets, also encouraging suppliers to spread their networks and brought demand generation closer to consumers. Consolidation among both manufacturers and suppliers led to the emergence of global multi-brand groups. With Wave 3 optimization peaking, these groups had few options but to collaborate with local players, interchange platforms for economies of scale and acquire other companies. This helped them gain access to newer markets, product portfolios, or manage supply chain risk. Today, differentiation amongst players is starting to narrow and thereby necessitating a search for a new source of competitive advantage. This, and the availability of new technologies is providing the impetus for the digital wave. 15 16

Digital Reimagination Winning in the New World of Manufacturing We help you become a digital enterprise that will enable the next wave of product innovation, customer experience and business process transformation for your manufacturing company. Social Media, are redefining the way manufacturing companies do business. Hence, these five forces form the basis of transformation in the manufacturing value chain, through Digital Reimagination TM.
