June 6, 5: Tour and Q and A with high school seniors from a United Way summer school program for at risk youth. Topics covered included careers in broadcasting. July 6, 5: Tour and Q and A with 5 local foster teens interested in careers in broadcasting. Establishment of an WTSP's commitment and dedication to intern program designed educating future journalists includes to assist members of the reaching out to college students through community internship programs. Students from Johns Hopkins University and Florida Southern College served as newsroom interns during this period. These interns studied all facets of live production and news show creation for one semester each. The Poynter Institute for Media Studies was selected to receive a grant to fund scholarships for local high school journalism students to attend a three day writing and video storytelling workshop.
