Do not use the appliance for any other purpose than its intended use. 7. The fan must not be used if the guards are not fastened according to instructions. 8. When the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. 9. Do not use your appliance with an extension cord unless it has been checked and tested by a qualified electrician or electrical supplier. 10. Return to Hagemeyer or authorised service agent. 11. The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons unless they have been adequately supervised by a responsible person to ensure that they can use the appliance safely. 12. Young children or infirm persons should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Read all instructions before operating. IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION Congratulations on your purchase of this versatile product, which combines a room cooler, humidifier and air cleaner. To get the best cooling effect from your product please read these instructions carefully. 2

For the best performance of your Evaporative Cooler it should be filled with water, and ice if available, and positioned in a location that will create a 'flow through' air effect. The greatest cooling effect will be felt if the unit is operated in a partly opened doorway or window with the cooled air directed into the room. It is also important to have a door or window partly opened away from the air cooler, in order to create the 'flow through' effect. If this arrangement cannot be met the Evaporative Cooling System will be less efficient. PARTS DESCRIPTION 1. Control Panel 2. Handle 3. Lid (opening for ice and water) 4. Water level indicator 5. Castors 6. Front louvres 7. Rear screen (removable) 8. Drain plug 9. Rear panel 10. Remote control 3

HOW TO USE ON / SPEED ADJUSTMENT: To turn the unit on press the SPEED button. The unit will automatically start in low speed position. Each time the button is pressed the speed increases from low to medium and then high. The control panel will show the increase in speed in the indicator shown to the right. TIMER: Press the timer button to set the time on the fan. The running time can be set from 1 hour to 8 hours. Each time the button is pressed the time increases. On the fifth time the timer function will be switched off. 1HR 2HR 4HR 8HR TIMER OFF COOL: This unit is designed for spot (evaporative) cooling. To start the evaporative function of this unit press the COOL button and the snowflake icon will be illuminated. SWING (LOUVRE): This button gives you the choice of having either a fixed or continuously sweeping airflow. For a continuous sweeping airflow switch the oscillation control to the on position. If you require the airflow to be delivered in a fixed direction, switch the swing control off. ION: This button starts the ionizer function. An ionizer introduces negative ions into the air that work to purify the air in the room. When this function is on the tree icon will be illuminated. Press the ion button again to turn this function off. REMOTE CONTROL: This unit comes with a full function remote control. The remote requires batteries. The effective range is approximately 6m. 4

PREPARATION AND OPERATION 1. To obtain the optimum performance from your Dimplex DEVA-13 Evaporative Fan, we recommend the following procedure be followed, as different areas within Australia have differing water types. 2. With the first use add a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid or Fabric softener to the water. This will ensure the DEVA-13 curtain absorbs the water for maximum cooling effect. You may find it necessary from time to time to add the liquid if the curtain is not adequately wet. 3. Remove the unit from its packaging. 4. If you wish for the evaporative function to work, lift the top cover of the machine and fill where indicated. Do not put water into the compartment marked ICE ONLY. Only fill with cold clean water into the WATER ONLY compartment. Do not overfill with water (check the water level at front). 5. For extra cooling, remove the separate ice container provided in the top of the unit, fill with water and freeze. Return the frozen ice container to the top compartment of the machine marked ICE ONLY. Only fill halfway with water if using ice in conjunction. 6. Always use clean water (not tap water) and do not allow the same water to stay in the machine for extended periods of time. It is recommended tht any water left in the machine for 3 or more days should be drained away via the drain plug provided. 7. Make sure the drain plug is tight before filling. When draining out water please ensure the drain plug is refitted correctly and tightly. 5

CARE AND MAINTENANCE CLEANING: Your unit is designed to remove dirt and other atmospheric impurities by drawing air through the air filter. On no account should this be blocked in any way, as this will impair the efficiency of the machine. Pushing the unit up against a wall or operating in a very close proximity to long window drapes will impair the airflow and efficiency. REAR AIR FILTER: This is easily accessible by removing the rear screen and removing the filter. Disconnect the machine from the power supply, gently wash the filter in mild soapy water and replace. Be sure to refit the rear screen securely. WATER TANK: If the unit is in regular use it is not necessary to clean the water tank regularly. However, in hard water areas, deposits will build up and it is recommended that cleaning with mild soapy water once every six months should be sufficient. 1. Disconnect the appliance from mains supply. 2. Remove complete rear panel by carefully removing the service screws. Do not use to pull the rear frame out as the mains lead is still connected internally via quick fit connector. 3. When the connector can be seen and reached, disconnect and remove panel completely. 4. Remove any deposits or dirt from within the tank with a mild soapy detergent and cloth. 5. Flush with clean water and drain via the drain plug. 6. Reverse procedure and make sure the rear panel is correctly located before replacing and tightening service screws. INTERNAL HUMIDITY SCREEN: The internal humidity screen (water curtain), like the water tank may also require cleaning. Follow the below steps: 1. Disconnect the appliance from mains supply. 2. Remove complete rear panel by carefully removing the service screws. Do not 6

use to pull the rear frame out as the mains lead is still connected internally via quick fit connector. 3. When the connector can be seen and reached, disconnect and remove panel completely. 4. Carefully remove the humidity screen from its rollers and soak in warm mild soapy water until clean. 5. Replace onto the rollers and revers the removal procedure. 6. It is recommended that this should be done every 6-12 months. OUTSIDE CABINET: Use warm mild soapy water and cloth. Do not use abrasive products. Be careful to ensure the control panel does not come into contact with water or any other liquids. 7
