Fees and s VicSuper FutureSaver Member Guide Date prepared 1 February 2017

The information in this document forms part of the VicSuper FutureSaver Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) dated 1 February 2017. Consumer Advisory Warning DID YOU KNOW? Small differences in both investment performance and fees and s can have a substantial impact on your long-term returns. For example, total annual fees and s of 2% of your account balance, rather than 1%, could reduce your final return by up to 20% over a 30-year period (for example reduce it from $100,000 to $80,000). You should consider whether features such as superior investment performance or the provision of better member services justify higher fees and s. Your employer may be able to negotiate to pay lower administration fees. Ask the fund or your financial adviser.* TO FIND OUT MORE If you would like to find out more, or see the impact of the fees based on your own circumstances, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) website (www.moneysmart.gov.au) has a superannuation calculator to help you check out different fee options. * Not applicable: VicSuper s fees and s are not negotiable. Fees and other s This document shows fees and other s that you may be charged. These fees and other s may be deducted from your money, from the returns on your investment or from the assets of the superannuation entity as a whole. Investment management The investment management represents the s associated with investing your superannuation. It includes fees paid to external investment managers, investment consulting fees, custodian s and internal s relating to investment management (excluding transaction s). The investment management is factored into the calculation of unit prices for each investment option. The following table shows estimates of the fund s investment management s per investment option for 2016/17. The actual will vary from year to year. Please note the for the Socially Conscious option (previously known as Equity Growth Sustainability) is estimated for the year from 1 February 2017. The when the option was Equity Growth Sustainability is estimated to be 0.81% pa. Investment option Investment management (estimated) pa Estimated Investment management expressed as $ per $50,000 Cash 0.03% $15 Term Deposit Capital Secure 0.28% $140 Capital Stable 0.40% $200 Balanced 0.47% $235 Performance fees Some of the external managers of the unlisted trusts that VicSuper invests in may charge a performance fee that is payable when the manager s investment performance exceeds a specified benchmark. The amount of performance fees payable is dependent on the individual arrangement VicSuper has with the relevant managers. Estimated performance fees of $14,093,759 have been included as a reasonable estimate in calculating the investment management s for 2016/17. Operational risk reserve All super funds are required to hold a reserve to cover optional risks. To meet this requirement VicSuper has an operational risk reserve (ORR) which aims to hold an amount of approximately 0.25% of net assets. The ORR has been built up by transfers from VicSuper s General Reserve and also by charging members a fee (called the operational risk reserve ) of 0.05% per year from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2016*. This fee was included in the calculation of unit prices and the maturity proceeds of term deposits. From 1 July 2016 the fee for the operational risk reserve is 0% pa, however VicSuper reviews the level of the ORR at least annually to ensure it continues to meet the requirement of 0.25% of net assets. Therefore, if required, VicSuper may reinstate the operational risk reserve again in the future. * For Term Deposit investments that commenced up to 30 June 2016 the Operational risk reserve applies for the whole term of the investment, even if the investment matures after 30 June 2016. Transaction s Certain s in acquiring and disposing assets such as brokerage, buy-sell spreads of some investments held by VicSuper and government duties are incurred by managing VicSuper Fund s investments. These represent an additional and VicSuper estimates the transaction in acquiring and disposing of investment assets to be between 0% to 0.25%. The actual transaction is taken into account when calculating the unit price of each investment option (where applicable). Taxes Certain taxes apply to your superannuation benefit and contributions made to your VicSuper Fund account. The tax rate on each investment option is incorporated into the calculation of the unit price for each investment option, except for term deposits where the tax is incorporated into the maturity proceeds of the term deposit. See the section on unit prices in Member Guide How we invest your money for information about VicSuper s unit prices. At 30 June, 31 December and the date of exit, your account may be increased for the benefit of a tax deduction on insurance premiums (where applicable) for the benefit statement period or period to date of exit, to the extent of contributions tax charged during the period.
