AVIAT WTM 6000 OVERVIEW ALL-IP LONG HAUL TRUNKING WIRELESS TRANSMISSION PLATFORM NOVEMBER 21, 2012

Long Haul Wireless Transmission or Trunking Wireless remains the only medium to enable many operators to deploy nation-wide networks Provides backbone network where fiber is not available, too expensive, or not secure Spans difficult terrain over long distances in challenging environments 2 AVIAT NETWORKS

Wireless Trunking Features High capacity Multi-gigabit throughput Reliable Paths can be engineered for 99.999% availability Long distance A single link can span 100 miles, even over water. Chains of links can cover thousands of miles across a continent Fast to deploy A national backbone network can be established in less than a year Common infrastructure Shares the same towers as GSM/3G/WiMAX networks 3 AVIAT NETWORKS

New Generation Trunking Platform Aviat WTM 6000 Long Haul, high performance N+1/N+0 native IP packet transport 4 Gbit/s or more of aggregate Ethernet throughput 4 to 13 GHz ITU-R long haul frequency bands Market leading rack density with 16 channels/rack XPIC/CCDP Frequency reuse Hybrid Ethernet/IP and/or TDM/STM-1/STM-4 operation Ultra-reliable, scalable and upgradeable Low-risk, cost effective migration path from TDM/SDH to Hybrid, to all-ip 4 AVIAT NETWORKS

All-IP Trunking Solution First trunking radio with advanced Packet transport features Gigabit Ethernet switch card (GE- SW) Ethernet Link Aggregation enables multiple RF channel bonding onto a single Gigabit Ethernet port Priority Assignment (QoS) Scheduler and Jumbo Frame VLAN support per port STP/RSTP (IEEE 802.1w) Flow Control Support Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) 1 x SV card WTM6000 16 slots for TRMD blades 16 slots for GE-ADPT cards and/or STM-1 cards 2 slots for AUX cards 2 slots for GE-SW cards 2 slots for Connection cards for BB-INTF redundancy (1 card supports up to 8 * BB-INTF pairs) * Availability of BB-INTF redundancy is later than GA2. 5 AVIAT NETWORKS

Designed for Maximum Trunking Performance Designed for highest level of performance and protection, not adapted from a split-mount product Dual plane propagation and equipment protection architecture Wide ATPC dynamic range (Manual TPC available) In-Phase (IP) combiner type Space Diversity w/automatic Static and Dynamic DADE Errorless/hitless N+1 Radio protection switching (RPS) for carrier grade transmission 6 AVIAT NETWORKS

Industry's highest rack density 16 radio channels in a single sub-rack Support for M+0, N+1 Terminal or Repeater and (M+1/N+1) Terminal, ACAP/ACCP/CCDP Purpose-designed for all indoor installation trunking applications Other competing radios are adapted from access-type split-mount designs No cable interconnections between baseband, transceiver modules and branching unit Very low power consumption 7 AVIAT NETWORKS

Adaptive Modulation WTM 6000 introduces 256QAM Adaptive Modulation (AM) on a trunking radio for the first time Dynamically varies link modulation depending upon path conditions Allows use of 256QAM for higher throughput, with little degradation of path performance or length Reduces costs - smaller antennas, less tower loading 8 AVIAT NETWORKS

Throughput Performance Per RF Channel Channel Size Airlink Capacity Per RF channel, @ 256QAM (All frame sizes) Maximum Layer 1 Throughput per RFchannel, @ 256QAM PlusIFG & Preamble Suppression (64 byte frame sizes) 28/30 MHz 178 Mbit/s 216 Mbit/s 40 MHz 238 Mbit/s 289 Mbit/s 9 AVIAT NETWORKS

High System Gain for Longer Paths Superior System Gain for exceptional System Availability +33 dbm @ 64 QAM +32 dbm @ 128 QAM Low Noise Figure receiver Low loss RF branching filters Convenient Cable-less interconnect between BRU and TRDMs Lower cost antenna system 10 AVIAT NETWORKS

Hybrid Mixed-Mode Transport STM-1/STM-4 TDM mixed-mode operation alongside Gigabit Ethernet Native TDM no circuit emulation, no extra latency or overheads Electrical/optical STM-1 and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces available in the same rack Convenient migration path from TDM/SDH to all-ip All TDM/SDH Hybrid SDH+Ethernet All Ethernet/IP BRU block BRU block BRU block TRMD block TRMD block TRMD block BB-INTF slot STM-1 BB-INTF slot STM-1 GE-SW GE-CH BB-INTF slot GE-SW 11 AVIAT NETWORKS NOVEMBER, 2012

GE-SW Port Protection in a card, 1 or 2 per shelf GE-ADPT x 8... GE-ADPT GE-SW card supports 2 types of port protection 1. L2LA: Using Layer 2 Link Aggregation function inside GE-SW Radio GE-SW When Port 1 fails, Port 2 can handle the packet data to/from 8 x GE-ADAPT cards (Up to 1 x 1GbE) Line Port 1 Port a Port 2 Port b Other equipment connected to WTM 6000 Note: Both of Port 1 & 2 are in normal state, the total throughput of line side is up to 2 x 1GbE. 2. L2LA: Spanning Tree Protocol, STP/RSTP GE-SW always selects Port 1 or Port 2 to handle the packet data to/from 8 x GE-ADAPT cards. The total throughput of line side is up to 1 x 1GbE, in this case. Selection from above two types is an user configurable parameter on GE-SW 12 AVIAT NETWORKS

Network Management Fully supported by full-featured Provision Network Management platform Full management feature set for lower OpEx Traffic performance of every hop can be monitored, per RF channel Simplified on-site test and maintenance Event Management - alarms and status 13 AVIAT NETWORKS

Reduce Capital and Operational Costs High degree of modularity allows easy expansion Superior technical specifications: optimized native IP Ethernet packet traffic, mixed-mode STM-1 All-indoor chassis simplifies installation, maintenance, growth Industry Leading Capacity-per-Rack minimizes shelter cost Easy installation and Commissioning minimizes field costs Simplified Branching Unit (BRU) to minimize expansion cost. 14 AVIAT NETWORKS

Aviat WTM 6000 Summary Delivering multi-gigabit native Ethernet and hybrid transport over long distances, with exceptional reliability and availability Compact design fits more RF channels into a single rack than ever before, with room to spare Ease of use and efficient design ensure trouble free operation 15 AVIAT NETWORKS
