CaseWare IDEA Inc. is a privately held software development and marketing company, with offices in Toronto and Ottawa, Canada, related companies in The Netherlands and China, and distributor partners serving over 90 countries. CaseWare IDEA Inc. is a subsidiary of CaseWare International Inc., the world leader in business-intelligence software for auditors, accountants, and systems and financial professionals (www.caseware-idea.com). IDEA is distributed under an exclusive license by: CaseWare IDEA Inc. 469 King Street West, 2nd Floor Toronto, CANADA M5V 1K4 IDEA is a registered trademark of CaseWare International Inc. Introduction Thank you for choosing IDEA Version Eight. Within a few minutes you will be able to experience the ease of use and the powerful functionality of IDEA. IDEA is more than ever the world s leading data analysis software for auditors, accountants, and systems and financial professionals. With IDEA you can display, read, analyze, manipulate, sample, or extract data from almost any source, including reports printed to a file. IDEA extends your reach by providing unique functions and features not found in generic software. Lower your audit cost, enhance the quality of your work, and take on new roles by putting the power of IDEA to work for you. After you have installed IDEA, it is strongly recommended that you complete the exercises in the IDEA Version Eight Tutorial, regardless of your proficiency in IDEA. The tutorial has been provided to you as an Adobe PDF file and may be accessed by selecting Programs > IDEA > Documentation from the Windows Start menu. Please note that the tutorial does not cover the full functionality of IDEA, but is suggested as an introduction or a refresher to IDEA before attending an IDEA training course. Please contact your IDEA distributor for a schedule of courses in your area or check the CaseWare IDEA website at www.caseware-idea.com.

What's Included in IDEA The IDEA software package includes the following: IDEA The software used to import data and conduct audit testing and analysis. IDEA Version Eight Installation Guide A booklet intended to guide you through the installation steps for IDEA Version Eight. IDEA Version Eight Tutorial (PDF) Includes exercises with sample data files. All users are advised to complete this tutorial. You may access the tutorial by selecting Programs > IDEA > Documentation from the Windows Start menu. Report Reader for IDEA Version Eight Tutorial (PDF) Provides examples of using Report Reader to convert print to file and plain text files into IDEA databases. You may access the tutorial by selecting Programs > IDEA > Documentation from the Windows Start menu. Additional Support Extensive online Help plus access to Webbased technical support and free plug-ins through the CaseWare IDEA Support website (ideasupport.caseware.com). Dongle (if applicable) Due to piracy and other forms of unauthorized use, users cannot always be sure that they have a genuine copy of IDEA. The goal of the dongle hardware device is to reduce a form of piracy known as casual copying or "soft lifting". Casual copying is the sharing and installation of software that is not in compliance with the software's end user license agreement, and is estimated to contribute to half of all pirated installations. CaseWare IDEA wants to help ensure that each IDEA license is installed in compliance with the license agreement and is not installed on more than the limited number of computers (usually one) allowed by the product license. Please keep your dongle in a secure place when you are not using IDEA.

Upgrading to IDEA Version Eight If you are upgrading to IDEA Version Eight, you must first, if applicable, uninstall any previous version of IDEA optional components, IDEA, HASP License Manager and Aladdin Monitor. UNINSTALL ORDER When uninstalling programs in preparation for installing IDEA Version Eight, it is imperative that you complete the following steps in the following order: 1. If applicable, uninstall any IDEA optional components, such as import components and Smart Analyzer, as well as HASP License Manager and Aladdin Monitor. 2. Uninstall any previous version of IDEA. 3. Reboot your computer. UNINSTALL METHODS Uninstall IDEA 2004, IDEA Version Seven, and IDEA Version Seven import components by navigating to the Windows Control Panel and double-clicking Add or Remove Programs. Appendix C SETTING UP THE LICENSE MANAGER AND MONITORING LICENSE USAGE When installing a version of IDEA on a network with a network dongle, you will need to specify a central machine (server or computer) as the license manager. To set up a machine as the license manager: 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the machine s CD-ROM drive. The IDEA CD-ROM is AutoRun-enabled, meaning the IDEA installation program will start automatically. Click Cancel. 2. From the Windows Start menu, select Run. In the Run dialog box, enter the command D:\Drivers\Runtime Environment\Setup\HASPUserSetup.exe (where D is the letter of the CD-ROM drive), and then click OK. 3. Connect the network dongle to the machine that will act as the license manager. After you have set up a machine as a license manager you can install IDEA on the neccessary computers (workstations). For the steps on how to install IDEA, see the Installation section of this installation guide. Pre-IDEA Version Eight, license usage was monitored through tools on the license manager machine called HASP License Manager and Aladdin Monitor. For IDEA Version Eight, these tools have been replaced by a Web-based tool called HASP SRM Admin Control Centre. This Web-based tool can be accessed from the license manager machine by going to http://localhost:1947.

Modifying the IP Address of the License Manager Computer During the installation of IDEA with a network dongle, you are prompted to enter the IP address of the license manager (central machine). If the IP address where the license manager resides has been changed or the network dongle has been moved to a different central machine (server or computer), the following steps may be performed to update the client machines. To add or modify the IP address after the installation of IDEA, complete the following steps: 1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Aladdin Shared\HASP. 2. Double-click hasplm.ini. 3. Ensure that the value beside broadcastsearch= is 0. 4. Modify the IP address beside serveraddr=. 5. Select File > Save. 6. Select File > Exit.

Appendix D SILENT INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS It is important to note that in order to preform a silent (unattended install) the following conditions must be met: You are a Network Administrator. You have set all computers that will run IDEA to have local Administrator privileges. If you are installing IDEA with a standalone dongle, you have connected the standalone dongle before starting the silent install. To run a silent install use the applicable code from the following. Note: x.x.x.x is used to represent an IP address.

Silent install Type Unprotected Standalone Network Command setup.exe /s /v"/qn setup.exe /s /v"/qn /l*v C:\logfile.log DONGLETYPE="single" setup.exe /s /v"/qn /l*v C:\logfile.log DONGLETYPE="network" HASPLMSERVERIP=x.x.x.x Silent install - Alternate install location Type Unprotected Standalone Network Command setup.exe /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=\"<install folder path>" setup.exe /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=\"<install folder path>" DONGLETYPE="single" setup.exe /s /v"/qn INSTALLDIR=\"<install folder path>" DONGLETYPE="network" HASPLMSERVERIP=x.x.x.x

Appendix E INSTALLING IDEA VERSION EIGHT OVER SEGMENTED NETWORKS Complete the following steps when the computer where you are installing IDEA Version Eight exists on a separate network segment from the computer hosting the license manager: 1. Install the required HASP SRM drivers from the CD by navigating to Drivers\Runtime Environment\Setup and double-clicking HASPUserSetup.exe. 2. Open your Web browser and enter http://localhost:1947. 3. Navigate to Configuration > Access to Remote License Managers. 4. Ensure that the Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses and the Aggressive Search for Remote Licenses check boxes are not selected. 5. In the Specify Search Parameters box, enter the IP address for the computer that has the license manager installed and has the network dongle attached, and then click Submit. 6. From the menu bar on the left side of the screen, select HASP Keys. Ensure that the dongle attached to the license manager is displayed in the list.
